2011 Nissan Sentra - A reliable car for casual driving
Starting off with what I really like about the car would be the appearance. Something about the car got my attention, since it doesn't look like any other car that's on the market. It might have little to no features, but it definitely is the car to rely on when it comes to getting from point A to point B. Other than that, the back seat is roomy, and I haven't had any issues with the seat belts or lack of space. The trunk is what got me sold. The back seat can be collapsible to make the trunk much bigger than it already is, making it convenient for the future moving plans that I had in mind when I bought this car. The dashboard of the car makes it easy to read, and the way that the gear selector is placed at a much higher position than most cars also makes it much easier to switch gear... (more)
Story
Going to the beach in this car was fun since I didn't have a car previous to this. It was definitely life changing to be able to go. Space wasn't a concern for me.
Pros
It has a large trunk, as well as a higher-positioned gear selector. The back seat is collapsible to make for a larger trunk space. Saves a ton of gas considering its year and not being a hybrid car. The cost of repairing this car wasn't as bad, either.
Cons
It does not have any fancy features, such as an automatic trunk or GPS. It also lacks a Bluetooth connectivity, which most people look for in a car nowadays.
2008 Nissan Sentra - Solid mechanically, but details are shoddy.
The styling of the car is fine. It's cute and fun, but nothing too unique or awe inspiring. For a compact sedan, it's pretty comfortable and roomy on the inside, with enough trunk space to fit two roller derby girls. Gas mileage is decent. Apart from a battery dying and the air conditioner failing at six years in, I've experienced very few mechanical issues with the car, although it does whine loudly when going up mountain roads, but I think that has to do with the CVT transmission. Speaking of the CVT transmission, while some people don’t care for this type of transmission because they think it feels sluggish, I did not experience that with the Nissan Sentra. I wouldn’t say that it’s particularly fun or exciting to drive, but it has been responsive. Where the car has been disappointin... (more)
Story
Driving to Las Vegas from Los Angeles on a particularly hot day, we stopped halfway at a restaurant. The thermometer on the car read 127 degrees. Like, it was so hot that my jewelry burned me on the way into the restaurant. When we got back out, my boyfriend went to put the car into reverse and the shift knob flew off in his hand because the glue had melted.
Pros
The trunk space is amazing. I've fit two bicycles in the back by folding the back seats down. It's also much roomier than it looks from the outside.
Cons
The quality of the interior has been poor since the vehicle was new, with panels coming lose and things falling off. The air conditioner failed and is too expensive to fix. Because the car gets so hot now, much of the interior glue is failing.
