Not only does this car get great mpg, it's really easy to handle. It's my first car and I've been satisfied with its quality.
Story
It handles and maneuvers really well. I have experience driving in hilly areas (Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Camarillo, etc.) In this vehicle and it makes driving pretty fun. I've also had an accident while in this vehicle (it rolled over once) and came out pretty much unscathed; it ended up with a little nick on my hand and a single bruise on my leg.
Pros
Due to its size, it's really easy to park. Often times I managed to find parking because I managed to fit where other cards couldn't. The car is also very heavy-duty and has a quality frame. I had been in a car accident in this vehicle and only ended up with a bruise and a 1 cm long scrape. The air conditioning is great; it really cools you off quickly on those hot summer days. You get great mpg, although it does vary with your style of driving and distance of your destinations.
Cons
One major thing that can be quite inconvenient (especially if you're not careful) is how low the car/bumper is. You have to be careful when it comes to speed bumps and curbs or else you risk scraping the bumper. Another thing that should be noted is that the mpg information for mini Coopers applies to the use of mid-grade or plus gasoline. You can use regular, but the gas doesn't last as long and you don't get as great mpg. The car manual also recommends the use of mid-grade/plus gasoline for optimum use.

2006 MINI Cooper - Fast, solid, smooth.

I appreciated the design of the MINI before ever driving one but driving one completely sealed the deal for me. Despite its small size, the car felt solid and handled like a race car. The car is especially good for highway driving, where you can use all six gears and the engine hums. But it's also very suitable for the city. It can squeeze into even the tiniest parking spaces and you can move in and out of traffic in a snap. Over time however, there can be issues so you might want to sign off around year six.
Story
I once made it from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in three hours in my Mini Cooper S. That's my quickest drive yet, in any car!
Pros
Very smooth handling, very solid feel as if it were a much larger, heavier car, it goes very fast, the small size makes it easy to get in and out of parking spaces of all sizes, great gas mileage, excellent design both inside and out.
Cons
The top negative about this car is that even the least eventful fender bender can result in a very expensive repair bill. The engine is compressed into a small area in the front of the car. I had an accident in which the car ahead of me had no damage whatsoever and my own damage ran thousands of dollars.

Great? I got taken. I'm really disappointed. Eventually I discovered the car had a cracked head gasket.
