A lot of small problems. But if I had to do it over again, given my circumstances when I bought the car, I would buy this car again.
Story
I remember one year my cousin from Sweden came to live with me and she was going to be a foreign exchange student at our local high school. Every morning when we were getting ready for school we would make two cups of coffee to go and I remember us on the way to school, blaring the music, singing on top of our lungs. That is probably my favorite memory in my car, being with someone I love genu... (more)
Pros
It has been a reliable form of transportation for the most part. Even with some transmission problems, it can be put into 3rd and still driven. It gets me from Point A to Point B with great gas mileage and was cheap enough that I can't really complain too much about the few minor problems. Just don't expect anything but basic amenities (even cruise control is not standard) or high performance.
Cons
Mechanically there have not been a lot of issues. However, mine is an automatic and the transmission shift sensor has gone out three times! Twice 2 years ago and I just had it replaced again. At $300 bucks a pop and only 120,000 miles on the car, I find this to be an unacceptable expense. Past about 55-60mph the car starts to violently shake and is noisy. It also doesn't have much power at all. I know it is only a 2 Liter, but I shouldn't have to turn my A/C off to have enough power to accelerate onto the freeway. As far as durability goes, it leaves a lot to be desired. The body is easily... (more)

This has been a pretty awful car since I bought it used with 53,000 miles on it. Something always breaking on it. Seems like I've replaced just about everything on it and it only has 160,000 miles on it. I thought I got a good deal but I've paid so much to repair it that it's been costly.
Story
My most memorable story about this car was that I took it to a FastLube and they drained all the oil out and forgot to put new oil in it. I got about a mile before the engine was ruined. FastLube paid to put a rebuilt engine it and I had even more problems with it after that.
Pros
I like the look of it for the most part. I like that it's fairly easy to access the stuff under the hood, as I like to do many repairs myself. I liked the warranty (which has now run out) -- 10 years or 100k miles, whichever comes first. I like the bucket seats. They're comfortable and adjust.
Cons
A headlight bulb goes out about every two months. I've gotten good at replacing those. The original wheels were made of cheap, thin steel and easily warp or bend on bumps in the road. I have learned that warped wheels cause tires to devolve quickly, and that's gotten a lot better since I bought alloy wheels. The speed-sensitive power steering has never worked right. The steering almost goes out when you slow down quickly during a sharp turn. I took it into the dealer for that several times under warranty and was told it was pointless to repair as the unit is improperly designed! A vent in ... (more)
