I purchased a 2007 Suzuki SX4 all wheel drive car. I bought it used in 2011. It has around 50,000 miles on it when I bought it. It has an automatic transmission. It is a 4 dour hatchback. The car is small even with 4 doors. Larger adults will have a hard time sitting in the back. The trunk space is small, but you can fold down the rear seats for larger items. The car also has a roof rack for things like bikes, surfboards and kayaks if you get the correct rack to do so. The car has an AM/FM radio with CD single CD player. Air conditioning is standard. It uses regular fuel which makes it easy on the wallet at the gas station. The car has a four cylinder engine making around 140 horsepower. It is not really fast but is okay for merging on to highways. For such a small car it only averages... (more)
Story
I live on the coast about a quarter mile from the bay. When Hurricane Sandy hit all of the roads were flooded. I needed to get to work so I drove my SX4. The intersection at my house was under 1 foot of water and so were some of the roads I went down. I put the car into AWD mode and would drive up on the sidewalks to get around deep water. Since the car is so small it fit so one wheel was on t... (more)
Pros
My favorite things about the car are as follows. The car has all wheel drive. It was the cheapest all wheel drive car made at the time. This feature makes the car really good in the rain, ice and snow. I have yet to get stuck in this little car. The car came with a 7 year powertrain warranty. I bought the car used and the warranty fully transferred over to me. And it helped to pay for a major repair when the water pump broke. The car has roof rails for roof racks. Since this is such a small car space is limited. So the car has rails on the roof where I can mount a bike rack. The car uses ... (more)
Cons
The car is very small. It would be hard for 2 large grown men to sit in the back seat. The gas mileage is bad. For a small car with a 4 cylinder engine, it does not get good fuel economy. I get 24-26 miles per gallon in combined city and highway driving. Suzuki stopped selling the car in the United States. This is going to make it harder to get parts for in the future as the car gets older. The engine is not that strong. While the car is okay for merging onto the highway it could be better. It is the slowest 140 horsepower car I have ever driven. Part of the problem is the all wheel drive... (more)

2008 Suzuki SX4 - Great starter vehicle and overall good vehicle, but can't find parts for it in the US and so it makes it a negative aspect about the vehicle in general.

This vehicle is over all a great starter vehicle for teens, considering the safety the vehicle provides. My Suzuki is an SX4 basic 2008 model. I bought this vehicle, because Suzuki is dependable if you keep up with the maintenance of the vehicle. I have this vehicle for six years replaced the battery once, but highly recommend good new tires for this type of vehicle due to it's light weight. The trunk has lots of space so it's good for traveling around like to the beach and out of town. The gas mileage is great for a 4 cylinder. It has and extra side window on both sides of the front which makes it easy for seeing better than a standard vehicle. Great overall vehicle for anyone really. I discovered my version was actually made for Canada. Most Suzuki's of that brand have front and rear... (more)
Story
I have lots of memories my car went everywhere with me beach, clubs, bars, traveling to visit friends and family.
Pros
I loved the safety features about the vehicle. I was once rear ended by a guy doing over 50mph and it did not damage the back of the vehicle; I'm guessing, because the front of his car set lower than my rear end. I didn't even feel it when I got rear ended just heard it. I guess maybe it's luck, but I would say that makes a great vehicle for safety, plus it surpassed more common vehicles in safety inspections on the US market. You can do your oil changes at 7000 miles, but I recommend using full synthetic if your going to do that and a filter made for synthetic oil like K&N. I noticed from... (more)
Cons
Unfortunately there is not a market for this type of vehicle, because Suzuki pulled it's cars out of America. If you paid over $10000 than your value today if the car is in top notch shape would be worth $6000 less than what you paid for it. Because Suzuki pulled out of the market due to the economy that didn't give manufactures for part making to make ideal parts for this particular brand. So common parts such as brakes, rotors, batteries, and everything you need to buy to keep a car going can be purchased in the US. My passenger seat sensor for the air bag went out and no dealership woul... (more)

I was looking for a small SUV because I live in the mountainous area. Suzuki SX4 is a small crossover perfect for these road conditions. This car is compact which gives more options at parking lots. It has a high clearance; it is quite powerful as for a 2.0 and gas consumption is low - 24 MPG in a city cycle. I haven't driven the car in the snow yet but in a rainy weather the AWD worked perfectly. The car is easy to handle and maneuverable and turning radius is small. The interior is nice and there is enough room in the trunk. The stereo system works great. One feature I really like is cruise control. I drive highways very often and cruise control works perfectly - I never get tired. There is still something I dislike in this car. First, the fuel tank is small (about 10 gallons) and I... (more)
Story
I was giving driving lessons to my friend. My primary concern was parking - my friend parked so awkwardly that I was afraid he would hit someone's car at the DMV and will fail even if he drives well. Fortunately, it is a compact car and there were 3 parking spaces available at the time he was parking so he fit the space and impressed the inspector.
Pros
Compact size. High clearance. Low gas consumption. AWD function. Maneuverability. Nice interior. Roomy trunk. Cruise control. Good stereo system sound. Built-in navigation system
Cons
Small fuel tank. Front seats are not heated. Not enough room for legs at back seats.
