The SX-4 is the second Suzuki vehicle I've owned, and I have to say I'm not unhappy about the quality at all. I've got well over 100k miles on my car, and it's still going strong. I use my car for both work and play, and it's very versatile. The coupe back lets me use it like an SUV, yet when the back seat is in position, it's very comfortable back there—my husband says more comfortable than our full-size SUV! The manual transmission makes driving in heavy traffic a breeze—you get great acceleration for four cylinders. The stereo sounds great, and despite it being a small, utilitarian car, it's very quiet inside. My cloth interior seats and carpeting still look great after nine years, so I can say it's definitely good for family driving.
Story
Three full-sized great danes in my car together with me is definitely the pinnacle, although with as many trips as I have been on with animals, there are a number. I had a cat escape its cardboard travel crate once and get loose in the car. Luckily, he just wanted to sit in the back window and howl. This went on for over 200 miles! I didn't dare stop to use the restroom until I reached my dest... (more)
Pros
I love the versatility of the SX-4. I was a little hesitant when I purchased it that it might be too small, but I've hauled home many things that I thought I would never be able to get into it! In addition, I'm an animal rescuer, and I transport animals rescued from shelters all over the eastern US, including many, many trips to northern Virginia. This car gets great gas mileage, even now, as old as it is and with so many miles on it. I have ridden with three great danes in this car with me comfortably for over 900 miles! We joked that this would be the "company" car when it was purchased... (more)
Cons
There are only a few negatives that I can think of. The support column between the front windshield and the side triangular window is in a very bad place, and I have to be very careful to lean and look rather than just glancing, as there have been a couple of times when people were standing in that spot and I missed them until I moved the car. That support needs to be moved back a bit. My only other complaint is that the stereo doesn't have an auxiliary jack. I enjoy listening to music from my phone and iPod, and I had to purchase a separate Bluetooth speaker for my car in order to do so.

2008 Suzuki SX4 - Great starter vehicle and overall good vehicle, but can't find parts for it in the US and so it makes it a negative aspect about the vehicle in general.

This vehicle is over all a great starter vehicle for teens, considering the safety the vehicle provides. My Suzuki is an SX4 basic 2008 model. I bought this vehicle, because Suzuki is dependable if you keep up with the maintenance of the vehicle. I have this vehicle for six years replaced the battery once, but highly recommend good new tires for this type of vehicle due to it's light weight. The trunk has lots of space so it's good for traveling around like to the beach and out of town. The gas mileage is great for a 4 cylinder. It has and extra side window on both sides of the front which makes it easy for seeing better than a standard vehicle. Great overall vehicle for anyone really. I discovered my version was actually made for Canada. Most Suzuki's of that brand have front and rear... (more)
Story
I have lots of memories my car went everywhere with me beach, clubs, bars, traveling to visit friends and family.
Pros
I loved the safety features about the vehicle. I was once rear ended by a guy doing over 50mph and it did not damage the back of the vehicle; I'm guessing, because the front of his car set lower than my rear end. I didn't even feel it when I got rear ended just heard it. I guess maybe it's luck, but I would say that makes a great vehicle for safety, plus it surpassed more common vehicles in safety inspections on the US market. You can do your oil changes at 7000 miles, but I recommend using full synthetic if your going to do that and a filter made for synthetic oil like K&N. I noticed from... (more)
Cons
Unfortunately there is not a market for this type of vehicle, because Suzuki pulled it's cars out of America. If you paid over $10000 than your value today if the car is in top notch shape would be worth $6000 less than what you paid for it. Because Suzuki pulled out of the market due to the economy that didn't give manufactures for part making to make ideal parts for this particular brand. So common parts such as brakes, rotors, batteries, and everything you need to buy to keep a car going can be purchased in the US. My passenger seat sensor for the air bag went out and no dealership woul... (more)
