1998 Buick LeSabre - Good car when it worked
I was given this car by my ex boyfriend. I believe Buicks are very good cars but this car seemed to have a lot of issues with breaking down all of the time. I more so contribute this to it being a somewhat old car.
Story
A memorable story about this car is one time I'd been driving home from school and the car completely broke down on me. I had to pull over into the closest parking lot of a grocery store. I ended up stranded for about 3 hours because I had no money on me to take the bus nor could I get in contact with anyone who could give me a ride. I lived in Miami for school so besides my boyfriend and a fe... (more)
Cons
Several times I've been stranded somewhere because the car would not start and I would have to sit for half an hour or more to let the car cool off before I could get it to start. It also didn't help that my boyfriend's mechanic didn't know what he was doing and would always be quick to say that it was "just the fuel pump" and I didn't know any better than to look for another mechanic at the time otherwise I would've gotten the problem fixed once and for all
1998 Buick LeSabre - I love it.
The build quality is exceptional. There are no interior rattles and I have driven 20,000 miles. The interior materials look and feel high quality, and have held up well over time. I have experienced no issues with key electronic components, including the stereo and navigation system. This cat has a smooth ride that delivers Buick-level comfort with a strong body, sophisticated suspension, and sculpted, supportive front seats. In addition to the comfortable highway ride and responsive, confidence-inspiring handling, Surprisingly competent handling, good power, Highway fuel economy, trunk size, safety, durability (Was hit by a jeep in the door while he was doing 25 in reverse in a parking lot, and it literally did nothing. 2 shallow scratches, that's it). I love the look of this years Le... (more)
Story
Brakes are a bit mushy for my taste. That and at 140k miles, these seem to need a bunch of stuff fixed at once, but the old owner was an abusive driver. I looked up the brake lines rusting through and it happened at 139k, and this is really common on GM vehicles from this year. Check them before buying. Sparks and other tune up items are a pain to access, to be expected on a larger displacemen... (more)
