This car is spectacular on gas. I was able to save a lot of money in fuel prices. The braking system was another thing to marvel at. The 2.2 liter Ecotec motor is a strong, healthy selection made by GM. However, there were some caveats with this car. The front dash panel, when exposed to heat and sunlight, will crack. The plastics on the interior must have been made with the cheapest material known to man. There were seldom any engine problems, but the cost of replacing little plastics time after time made this car more expensive just to maintain visual appeal. Another thing to mention is the appalling space that this car has. If you have friends or like to take your family on a leisure trip even down to McDonald's, prepare for your family to be uncomfortable and unruly. This car is ju... (more)
Story
I remember the first time I got this car and took it on the 826-FL highway. It was pretty healthy and could keep up with stronger sedans on the road.
Pros
The car is great on gas. The parts are fairly cheap, so it is economical to replace something if it breaks. The handling is very robust for a car of this caliber.
Cons
The car is too small. Interior dashboard plastics will break if exposed to heat and sunlight. Oil leaks if you miss preventive maintenance after 100,000 miles.

The Chevy Cavalier is small enough to fit anywhere I want to take it, yet large enough inside for all passengers to feel comfortable. This car has required very little maintenance, and any repairs have been straight forward to complete. The fact that the back seats fold down provides for extra storage space for camping trips and for transporting large or bulky items.
Story
We've used this car for many day trips and for overnight camping adventures. Even though it has a small frame and appears to be a family car, we treat it like a pick up. By folding the backseats down, we toss in tent gear, bicycles, whatever we need for outdoor adventures, and feel comfortable that we won't get stuck along the way.
Pros
The Chevy Cavalier has a sporty look that makes it stand out in traffic. With the automatic transmission we were able to use it as a training car for beginning drivers, yet it was fully equipment for experienced drivers to feel comfortable on long-distance trips.
Cons
When our family grew and we needed to add a third car seat for the baby to ride in back, it made the existing car seats feel cramped. We were able to eliminate this problem by purchasing seat-belt extenders. Once the extenders were in place there were no more problems with the older children being able to buckle themselves in while the baby was in the center position.

He is a family friend, he knows the car because he is the owner and my father know him of taking care of his car, how he value his car.
