2005 Chevrolet Cobalt - Definitely not a long-term-use vehicle.
This vehicle is compact. If you like compact cars, this is the vehicle for you. But be aware that this is not a car that can last for years to come. It is a great car if you just need something to get around town as a college student but get rid of it after that. There were so many recalls on the car and costly repairs that had to be made that this being my first car I was scared of cars after this. At high speeds the car felt like it would drift off the highway, which was very scary. This is not a grown-ups car, definitely a cheap option for a kid.
Story
Packing my friends in like sardines to go to a party. Luckily, we did not get pulled over by a cop because, lord knows, my parents would have been furious.
Pros
Great car if you only need it for a couple of years. Not that fancy of a car but it looks decent and seats a decent amount of people, depending on the size of the people.
Cons
Costly repairs. Not a car you can rely on for years to come. You definitely get what you pay for with this car. Avoid this car if you are looking for something reliable.
2006 Chevrolet Cobalt - Nothing but problems
I thought this car would be a cute back and forth car. I was only looking for something that was small, good on gas and front-wheel drive. I had read good things about this car, but I honestly don't know who would have anything positive to say. I have spent thousands of dollars on work that I shouldn't have to spend. An example is when the door handle broke off, or when I was driving down the highway and the power steering randomly went out. It has been one thing after another and I think I have finally given up on it. I would stay away from this car, they look better than they are.
Story
I guess when my husband and I decided to take it on a road trip. It was pretty fun, and we made some good memories in the car. It can handle dirt roads better than you'd think, so we got to take it some interesting places on that trip.
Pros
One pro would be the gas mileage, it averaged over 30 MPG on the highway. Another would be the cute look, it looks sporty even for a four-cylinder engine. I also liked the sunroof, it made the car appear larger inside than it actually was.
Cons
Very cheaply made, I had pieces break off all the time. The door handle just snapped when I tried to open it. I had the front grill fly off while I was on the highway, nothing hit it, didn't know it was lose it just flew off. The antenna, same thing, it just snapped off one day. The power steering went out while I was also on the highway in a snow storm. It's an electronic fuel injection and just decided it didn't want to work. That was a pretty scary moment.
