2000 Chrysler Voyager - Old But Gold
I like the fact that my van has over 220,000 miles on it and is still running like a new van. The one thing that I don't like that cannot be helped is the rust. I cannot justify a new paint job on a 15 year old vehicle. However I don't mind minor car repairs because it beats having a car payment. I have always been a fan of the Chrysler product and they have never let me down. I know that within the next one to two years I will need to replace my van but I will be looking for a late model not a brand new one. The maintenance on this vehicle is very minimal oil change, tires, a fuel pump, are the only things I have had to replace. Within the next one to two months I will need to replace struts but I'm not complaining the streets have lasted the entire 220,000 miles. I would recommend a ... (more)
Story
Pulling out all the back seats and camping in the van
Pros
Low maintenance, great gas mileage, room for my whole family and easy fixes are what keep me coming back to Chrysler products. I like that I can have room for my whole family in one vehicle or if I need space to move something large I can easily take out both back seats and then I have room for moving stuff. It is like having a truck and a van all in one. For a 15 year old vehicle it still gets 20 to 25 miles to the gallon on the highway. There is no rattling like some old cars do. There are no electrical problems with the van. The power windows and power locks still works as if it was bra... (more)
Cons
It is a big vehicle therefore it does take a lot of gas. Because it is getting older it does require more maintenance than before. Older vehicle parts are harder to find and when found more expensive. It's always a surprise to find out what's wrong with it because it is older and anything could be wrong with it. To replace it with something brand new would cost forty thousand dollars or more. That is not money that I have or am willing to spend on a new vehicle. The weather stripping between the doors is beginning to crack and fall off because it is old the paint is beginning to rust along... (more)
2000 Chrysler Voyager - Minivans are amazing.
Overall it's a great machine. It's big but a downside as expected is that the gas mileage is not great. However, it is extremely comfortable and easy to maneuver. I've been told Chryslers are horrible for needing repairs, and it's true enough that my own vehicle had to have a very expensive repair done to have the head gasket replaced. It was expensive, but for the cost of the vehicle and all the repairs, it was still a great deal.
Large windows provide great visibility. Being slightly higher up than the average car also makes a huge difference. The ride is very smooth, and the van is extremely easy to maneuver.
It is amazing for car-camping. Just take out all the seats and you have a very nice, cozy space for a small bed and all your things.
Anyone can drive it easily. Great for t... (more)
Story
I took it to the beach and afterward relaxed in the cabin :)
Pros
Gets you pulled over less I imagine, carries large items, can seat 7 people total, large enough to carry a LOT but nimble enough to squeeze in tight places, seriously great, turning radius, great visibility, great for drivers of all skillsets, you can sleep in it, nice arm rests, seats are extremely comfortable, soft cloth seats that don't get too hot in the, sun unlike leather, It's old enough that it is easy and cheap to get work done on it, and new enough that it has a lot of nice features in a vehicle, very safe in a crash, comes with manual windows which while some would find inconven... Cons
Seats are very heavy, and don't fold down, gas mileage isn't horrible but it's not great either, acceleration sucks, other cars disrespect you because people are misogynistic, h It can have a few common things that will need to be repaired, Only has radio and cassette standard.
2002 Chrysler Voyager - Still runs well after 125,000 miles
My 2002 Chrysler Voyager van has held up well for fifteen years. Prior to this vehicle, I purchased a new vehicle every few years. As long as you perform the recommended maintenance religiously, this vehicle will give you many years of service. All in all, I consider the cons to be pretty minor compared to other vehicles I have owned. I would definitely buy another Chrysler Voyager and hope that their standards are still as high as they were fifteen years ago.
Story
I was stuck behind a huge traffic accident for a long time one hot summer day. The vehicle overheated, and I had to turn on the heater to pull heat off of the engine. As the heater works very well, I practically had heat stroke before the traffic started moving again.
Pros
There are five people in my family, some quite large, and they fit comfortably in the van. I buy at least $400 in groceries every week, and they fit as well. For five years of my ownership, I drove at least eighty miles per day to work, with very few problems. The vehicle handles better in snow and ice than any vehicle I have owned, including an Aerostar, an Eagle, and a Jeep Cherokee Chief. The heating and cooling systems are still strong after fifteen years. The vehicle is a V-6 and easily negotiates the very hilly area in which I live. The exterior paint and trim is just starting to sho... (more)
Cons
The factory radio has never been very good quality. The motor on the electric windows has had to be replaced several times, including one the first week I owned the car. The driver side window got stuck completely down in subzero weather prior to a forty-mile drive to work. The fuel economy is not great in today's standards. The front of the van is somewhat low, and can scrape when maneuvering a turn at a sharp downward angle.
