Good solid car
So far my PT cruiser has held up like a champ; it's a working car; not fancy, not the smoothest ride, but a work horse; it gets good gas mileage (approx. 20-25mpg around town), it had never broken down or cost me a great deal in repairs. It handles long trips well and has lots of storage space; it looks good and has not had any real cosmetic issues in the years that I have had it. It rides well and I like the fact that the back trunk area has a removable shelf, as well as removable back seat, which makes it flexible for carrying passengers and stuff around town. It performs well in ice and snow, as tested by our snowy winters here, yet I do not have to worry about scratches and dings, because let’s face it, it’s a PT cruiser; it’s not a Lexus or a Mercedes. It is a great car for a road trip and the stereo has held up well over the years to all types of loud music. It has a fairly high ground clearance which makes it easy to drive and to navigate over uneven terrain, which has been a plus, since we camp a lot over uneven ground. All in all it is a solid car.

Terrible
The thing about the PT Cruiser is that its a roomy vehicle but at the same time its a terrible vehicle for keeping up with repairs. But I'll start out with saying that when I first bought the vehicle I was generally happy about the purchase, but as time went on there were some things that I would notice about the car that seemed kinda off and iffy. Don't get me wrong I had a wonderful time with the car but realizing all the things that was wrong with it and how much work I had to put into trying to get it up and running again was the most hassle for the whole shebang.

Cute but Unreliable
I bought this car because it was fairly affordable: around $10,000 when I bought it in 2010. It has since depreciated to a value of about $2,500. I like the style of the car; it looks like a 1940s mobster car. A+ for style. The interior is nice, too and it has lots of what they used to call "cigarette lighters" - places to plug in and charge gadgets. Tons of interior space. Okay fuel efficiency. Unfortunately, driving it has not been a treat. It has been in the shop almost as much as it has been on the road. There is a design flaw that causes the car to overheat and many PT Cruiser owners have experienced this (2005 and later; I hear that the earlier ones were better built). I have had every component of the thermostat/cooling system replaced multiple times, but the car still tends to overheat. I have also had to replace the shifter cable more than once.
