This is the 3rd PT Cruiser I have owned. The first one (a couple of model years earlier) we purchased brand new only to have it totaled in a collision after 1.5 years (a very sad day). The second we drove almost until it died, which led to owning our current 2009 model. Needless to say, I like this particular car. The unique style makes it fun to look at. I like that it sits up a little higher than a typical sedan, yet it also carries up to 5 people (driver plus 4). Granted, the back seat is really only comfortable for 2 adults, but you can definitely get 3 kids of various ages back there, especially if one or more are out of the car seat stage! Story
We purchased a rental property and cleaned it up. I stayed late to do the final clean up. You would be AMAZED at what can be packed in this vehicle if you have to. I had it packed to the gills with everything from cleaning supplies to random stuff left behind by the previous owner. I drove 30+ miles in the dead of night! Pros
Seats driver plus 3-4 people. Seats flatten or can be removed to haul large items. Hatch lifts up and provides cover while unloading. Safety features of passenger compartment works to keep driver and passengers safer in the event of a serious accident. Newer models are more reliable than some of the earlier versions.
Cons
Engine compartment is very compact and can make for more expensive repairs, at times. Gas mileage is 20-26 mpg. Doesn't have super fast pickup 0-60 mph, though it has improved in the newer models from the older ones.

I have been driving a 2009 PT Cruiser for the last 7 years. Overall, it has been a good car for what I needed. It has been reliable, comfortable, and relatively easy to maintain. Mine doesn't have too many fancy "bells and whistles," but it has a manual transmission which is fun to drive. Most of the issues that I have had with the car have been related to the air conditioner, but that wasn't until the last year and half. Prior to that, I've only had to do regular maintenance, as recommended by the shop at the dealership. Although I have enjoyed this car, I would get another one for myself as I am looking for something bigger for my family. I would however, recommend this car to anyone who needs a good reliable car for commuting or driving around town.
Story
One time, my wife and I took the back seats out and made a big comfy bed in the back. We took it to the drive-in movie theater is Dallas, OR and watched a couple movies in our make-shift bed.
Pros
Easy to drive and maintain. Comfortable, especially being tall (I'm 6'2"), it is surprisingly roomy in the driver seat. Lots of room in the back for stuff, especially when the back seats are taken out.
Cons
Can have lots of road noise at times. No cruise control (on mine at least). Not much room in the back seats for kids.
