Best truck I ever had.
The 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup is the best truck I have ever own. It is the perfect work truck. With a lengthy 8' bed, hauling plywood is a breeze. Load capacity is unbelievable. Gas mileage is great, considering how many ponies I have purring under the hood. Towing trailers is a breeze as this thing is a work mule. Aesthetically, not the best, but it grows on you. And for the price I could not pass it up, just had to touch it up a bit and make it mine. Only downside to my particular model, would have to be the seating. Only three seat belts. But sometimes that's all you need, so it works out.

Good truck - bad gas mileage.
Purchased this truck for a work vehicle in 2003 with 32,000 miles on the odometer and now, 130,000 miles later, it is still going strong! Has been a great work truck and have used it to pull a 5000 lb. trailer about half of those miles and have also used it to push snow in the Denver area with an attached snow plow. The only major issues that I have had and would attribute to the quality of its manufacturing have with the exception of the water pump, all been related to the drive train, including: u-joints, front wheel bearings, ball joints and tie rods along with the rear differential. All of these components failed at between 125,000 miles and 150,000 miles. Some of the failure of these parts could possibly be due to the use of the snow plow and the resulting additional wear and tear. However, it is supposed to be a heavy duty vehicle and it seems to me that all of these critical and expensive parts should have lasted longer before failure. Some other less critical systems have also failed and these include: the air conditioning compressor and control switch, the heater coil and fan, the right side power window motor, the exhaust pipe and muffler and the idler pulley for the serpentine belt. I do not feel that these items should have failed either but I am less upset about them because they are less critical and not so expensive to repair. My happiness with the truck outweighs all of these repairs however and the reason is because the truck has been in my opinion, extremely reliable and has never once failed to start or become undrivable. However, happy as I am with it, I calculate that the sum total of these repairs is in the neighborhood of $12,000.00, which is more than half the $18,000.00 I paid for the truck 14 years ago, so I am not super happy with it!
