What a nightmare!
Oh dear gosh, where do I start to tell you how much I hated this car? We purchased it from a dealership because we liked the sporty body and the great sound system. But let's start with the air conditioning. Exactly one week after the warranty expired, so did the A/C. Fixing it would have cost over $2000 dollars, so we did without. About 6 months later, as I was trying to cross a 4 lane highway with my child in the back seat, the sucker stalled. No sputtering, no slow down, it just died. I put it in neutral and managed to get it restarted as horns blared and brakes squealed. The local repair shop, eminently trustworthy, replaced the gas cap. On the way home, it stalled in traffic again. Back it went to the shop, where it got a new fuel pump. It managed to make it three weeks before it did another on-highway stall. I took it to another shop, where the electrical system was tinkered with. Another death stall on the way home. I took it back to the dealership, where they did a comprehensive work up, and told me there was nothing wrong with it. It stalled on the way out of their parking lot. By now I had caught on that this car was a money pit. I felt I had to warn any prospective buyers about its dying duck performance, which cut way down on those interested in buying it. One guy finally offered to take it for a test drive, because he and my husband both thought it was 'something I was doing wrong'. On the test drive, as we were sitting in traffic, the engine caught on fire. I junked the thing.

Reliable little car
The Hyundai accent is a small but reliable car. I've owned one for a decade and have had few problems with it aside from routine maintenance. Hyundai is good about contacting owners and providing fixes to factory caused problems. For example, once the brake light cable needed to be fixed on all models after several years so they sent letters to all owners and provided free repairs if brought to a dealership. It has slightly above average gas mileage which is good for both town and long distance driving, but the gas tank is fairly small. The seats are comfortable but would be difficult to situate yourself in if you are tall and have long legs. The cupholders have a clever design that let you set drinks of many different sizes in them. There are many cupholders in the vehicle, even in the back seat. I have not personally needed to test the safety features of the vehicle but it is well known for having good safety design. Overall I am happy with my experience as an owner of this car but I don't consider myself to be strictly loyal to the make or model.
