An oldie but goodie
My car is 23 years old, so at this point it has some minor issues, although most are cosmetic. The seats look worn, the cloth on the ceiling of the interior is sagging, there are some scratches on the paint of the exterior. I care much more about how the car actually runs, though, and I have to say it runs great. I bought it from a friend in Nebraska and drove it back home to Ohio, more than 800 miles away, and it ran smoothly. I am now actually living in Nebraska, and the car has made it through some very cold winter weather and it starts right up every time. I have to say it runs better than some newer vehicles I have owned. I have the idea they made cars better back when this one was made. It seems to get decent gas mileage, too, although I'm sure newer models do better in that regard.

Reliable, American Beauty
The 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme was the last Cutlass Supreme ever made, and that is a crying shame. This car is a beautiful reminder of the old days of American cars. It has a classic look and is as reliable as it gets. The GM 3100 engine is one of the best engines ever made (ask any mechanic, they'll agree). The solid, durable construction is something that has gone out to pasture these days having been replaced by cheaper materials. At nearly 20 years old and 100,000+ miles, my Cutlass Supreme still runs like a top.

Dependable
I have owned this vehicle since 2002 and it has been very dependable for me. When I bought it, it had 75,000 miles with only 1 previous owner. They took excellent care of it in both the maintenance and cleanliness departments, and the interior was like new. Besides for routine maintenance I've only had to have major work done once. Two years ago, when it had 180,000 miles, I had to have the head gasket replaced and it was a costly repair. But considering I knew it was well maintained and dependable, fixing it was a much better route than purchasing a different vehicle. It has driven me to Buffalo, New York, Pigeon Forge, and Tennessee and rides excellent and very comfortable. It has 225,000 miles on it now and considering it is 21 years old I think that number is pretty good. It may be nearing the time when it should be retired, but I just replaced the battery, alternator, and timing belt gasket so I think it can last another year or two. Overall, I think that purchasing the vehicle for $5000 way back when was a great investment. I hope I am as lucky next time I purchase a used car.
