Low miles, modest luxury, high maintenance.
To me, this iteration of the 88 model represents Olds' last days as a "classy" if dated marque. It's a relatively simple car, with a few subtle touches (such as stimulated wood grain - totally high brow back in the day) that bump it squarely into the middle class, middle market bracket Olds traditionally occupied. However, 'the under the hood' components unfortunately are showing their age.

The car that lasts and lasts
This is the luxury edition of the Olds 88. Not only does it have leather seats, automatic windows, seats, locks, but wood grain on dash to give it a classy look. The car looks fabulous, especially when it was new, but the best part about it is that is keeps going and going and going. It has over 250,000 miles on it and is still running great! It has been a very dependable car, with only minor repairs done through the years, such as brake pads, oil changes and such.

Very dependable. Never left me stranded.
My Oldsmobile 88 has never let me down. I bought it as a 6 year old car in 2002 and it has been very dependable ever since. Other than routine maintenance, I haven't had to replace anything major. Although it's age, I can get about 22mpg in the city if I drive carefully. On the highway I can get high 20's.While it's reasonable on gas, it still has the power I need on snowy Michigan roads. I have made it through 6 inches of snow on many occasions. The cabin space in incredibly roomy, allowing for easy transport of cargo or passengers. I often fit my two 95lb dogs in the backseat for the short drive to the cabin. Thankfully, the interior has been durable enough to stand up to their claws. The plush seats are a nice comfort because I spend a lot of time behind the wheel. Another plus is the power windows and seat. The only complaints would be that due to its age, it still has the factory cassette deck in it. Although it will not win any races, this car has always had enough power and durability to survive harsh winters and plenty of highway driving.
