Oldsmobile Intrigue OWNER RATINGS & REVIEWS
Everett, Washington
Disappointed.
The Oldsmobile Intrigue is comfortable to ride in and easy to drive. The interior is spacious and suitable for a family or a couple. The trunk is also very spacious and can hold groceries, portable work-out equipment, and some sporting equipment. However the car is not reliable mechanically, most likely due to its old age. Visually, the car is somewhat attractive. Although it does not have a modern appearance or interior, the appearance is not completely disappointing.

It is very reliable
My vehicle has worked very well ever since I bought it two and a half years ago. It runs very smoothly and I enjoy driving it. It had not had many problems except that I had to change the water pump and serpentine belt. Neither of those two things cost a lot of money and it was an easy fix. My car had pretty good gas mileage for an older car. I never feel that it will not run or something may break at any time. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone. Oldsmobile is not made any more, but if someone has a chance to buy it, they should. It is not the best looking car in the world, but reliability matters to me a whole lot more than what it looks like. If someone is in need of a car and does not have a lot of money to spend, this is the car for you because the money you spend will go a long way. I searched for a long time and did a lot of research and found this car to be the best for my money. Hardly any car problems, easy fixes, and good gas mileage makes this car a great choice!

Underrated performance sedan with some issues
This car was technically my second car, as I owned a piece of crap ancient beast for my first car - and I only owned that for a few months. I purchased my Intrigue when it was about a year old, and had 11,000 miles on it. At its core, the Intrigue is a family-style sedan. 4-doors, a wide body, GM-made, and not really meant to turn heads too much. However, it has a strong 3.5L engine (GM's Shortstar), with about 215 horsepower and good torque. My car is black with a tan/beige interior. It looks, to me, like a muscular car (for a sedan), as the hindquarters are a bid wider than the front. It has great pickup, fairly good fuel economy for a 6-cylinder car, getting 19city and 27highway -- I've averaged about 21-23 combined, usually. The handling is great, the steering is tight, and this beast roars off the line!
Now, on the other hand, this car was plagued with various issues. For one, the steering column was a piece of crap, and had to be replaced under warranty multiple times. The electrical system sucks and has had all sorts of issues: shorts, various parts failing to operate consistently, burned out headlights. The trim looks great inside the car, but is also clearly just plastic, so several parts have warped or come loose in the past.
The trunk is humongous, and the back seat provides plenty of space - both legroom and head room.
I've had my car for almost 14 years now, and it still drives and performs like new. It has some minor wear and tear engine issues, and some parts have been replaced, but I know if I hit that pedal all 2,000+ pounds of this car will peel out from a stoplight!
