Pricey parts
While the vehicle is nice, the parts are very expensive and many times require Mercedes parts since it's a German manufacturer. I find myself in the service department a lot.

Jetta - a reliable sedan.
It is embarrassing to say this, but what drew us to this car was the desire to have key that flicked open almost 8 years ago. Since then, we have been very pleased with the value that this car has delivered. We have accumulated 78k miles so far. We purchased this car via lease and then bought it in cash at the end of the lease. The vehicle came with a 39month/30,000 mile warranty and I was terribly worried that at the end of the warranty there would be a rash of issues that I would encounter. The car is friendly enough for the weekend mechanic to maintain (oil changes, spark plugs, brakes) or for the driver who needs to use the dealer. There are many services I still do myself (cabin air filter, engine air filter, windshield wipers, headlights, and spark plugs). The two services that I previously performed on other vehicles done but now have the dealer perform are brakes and oil changes. I was pleasantly surprised that oil changes are only needed once a year and only run $100 with synthetic oil (only about $20 more than doing it myself). I’m not a drag racer any more and have only had to change the rear brakes. We have changed the tires, but they were reasonably priced at $110/tire (compared to $225 for other vehicles). In total, we’ve spent $1500 over 8 years in maintaining this vehicle, which is a big plus! Though we were sold to this car for the key, I would buy it again for the value!

I absolutely loved this vehicle. If it weren't for it being old, I would still have it! It ran great and was the best car I have ever had!
This car was awesome. It had 97,000 miles yet it never gave me any issues. The interior was leather seats so cleaning up mess was totally easy. The exterior was an awesome lovely red that was so bright, and it made the car look so sporty and edgy. So the style was on point, and the good thing is, even at 97,000 miles, there was never any rattle or scary shaking noise done by the vehicle. As a busy college student, I never had the time to upkeep the vehicle with its proper maintenance, but that did not matter because it just never broke down on me. This is why I can compare my car to a dog. It was reliable, and I could always depend on it. Another thing about the interior is that it had a sunroof! So yeah, I would commute back and forth to work and school, but the Jetta was no stranger to parties and fun and so the sunroof was definitely utilized. The A/C always stayed cool, regardless of how many miles was put on it, and regardless of the wear and tear, the A/C never broke. We all know A/C is usually the first thing to die or break within a vehicle! Many people see their cars as girls. I saw mine as a boy and even nick-named him Jett-Jett!!!
