Great first car!
My VW Jetta is the first car I have ever owned. I was able to put $5,000 down and my monthly payments are extremely manageable (especially because I am still a student). There is also no interest as long as I don't miss a payment. VW's credit/payment plan is really easy to use and pay online. I don't know much about cars, but this one feels solid and safe. I have had it for over 2 years and driven it for over 25K miles and it has never had a single problem. I'm still on the original tires, too! It is really easy on gas - I travel pretty far to school and work every day and might only spend $50 per month on gas total. The air conditioning is really powerful - it's probably my favorite feature of the car. The seats are comfortable also. The car is small, but it feels nice and roomy inside. Plus, having a smaller car is a huge plus because I can fit into compact spots! The only thing I wish the car had was Bluetooth capability, but you can rig it by using an aux cord and the speaker function on your phone! Pro-tip for Dog Lovers: I have a big dog and if you get a cheap dog hammock on Amazon, the back seat is the perfect size for your canine companion! It seems small, but it's just enough room for a big doggy to stretch out for a long road trip.

Station-Wagon for soccer dads.
First off, we are a Volkswagen family and have been for a very long time. We have owned over 10 vehicles and referred numerous friends and family to VW for their vehicle needs. I “downgraded” to the Jetta Sportwagen from the terrible Routan, which was basically a Chrysler mini-van with VW badges on it. The Routan was nothing but trouble and we had initially decided on it because our twins were very young and the dual auto sliding doors were very beneficial to us. Eventually as the twins grew up and the mechanical issues with the Chrysler mounted, we had to get out of it – and the downgrade actually turned into an upgrade with the more reliable Jetta Sportwagen. I knew I had some sports (soccer) activities (coaching) on the horizon and decided that this vehicle would be a great fit for everything I had to do in the future. Unfortunately, we were a bit upside down on the Chrysler but we were able to work out a severance plan with the dealer because everyone knew it was a piece of garbage.
