2009 Ford Escape - Great, decent gas miles, spacious
I have had this car for about 6 months now and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. I bought the car after I burned out the clutch in my mustang. The ford escape had over 100,000 miles when I bought it and the vehicle still runs great. It has given me good gas miles still around 25. I really like how spacious the vehicle is and I like the leather seats. The moon roof and navigation systems are nice additions. I am looking forward to see how well it will work in the snow this winter. The escape is a V6 but I think it is losing some of its power since it has over 100,000 miles in it. I have taken the vehicle in off road situations and have had no problems getting stuck. I wouldn't trust it towing anything though. I have heard the newer versions are v4s which are nice for gas mileage but robs th... (more)
Story
I am from the Pittsburgh area and this vehicle has allowed me to buy a kayak which in turn allows me to kayak the rivers during the pirates games!
Pros
The things I love about the vehicle are the amount of space. I really like the leather seats and the heated seats. I also really like the moon roof and that all of my stuff is electronic. I like the center media center. The navigation is great and the satellite radio is a great addition. I also really like the rear windshield wipers. I like how the rear door opens up with the window and the door. I also like the buttons on the door to open the door without having to use my keys.
Cons
The car makes a creaking noise around turns. The vehicle has seem to lost a bit of power. I don't like the power window location I tend to put down the rear windows when I mean to put down the front windows. The rear windows also don't go down the whole way and back seat passengers complain about it.
2012 Ford Escape - Not a reliable vehicle
This Ford Escape has been very unreliable. It is not a family car by no means. It is difficult to get a infant car seat in and out. The engine has already gone including the transmission, which needed replaced before 100 thousand miles. The only pro is that it is electric seats and windows including the sun roof. The vehicle does drive well in the snow; however, in water it hydro planes very bad. The back hatch doesn't stay up. We have replaced more parts on this vehicle that it is worth.
Story
Nothing!! The car has been the worst vehicle we have ever bought! We have broke down on more than one occasion because of this , so in all reality, there is nothing fun about this car!
Pros
The only pros about this vehicle is that is goes well in the snow. It also has electric windows and seats. That is the only pro to owning this vehicle.
Cons
It drives awful in the rain. We have replaced about every part on this vehicle. More than what the car is worth. Transmission and engine are also now good. Leaked oil from the day we got it! Would never recommend this to any family who has a car seat to put in. Very hard to do for infant seats.
