1999 Jeep Cherokee - I'm really happy with my Jeep Cherokee Sport

I like the rugged design and build quality of the Jeep. It's 20 years old and has never given me any real trouble at 140,000 miles. There are no oil leaks, and the air conditioning still works. I have the two-door model, and I really like the larger front side windows. The truck has excellent visibility all around with hardly any blind spots. It handles well for a small SUV. The dark green paint still looks good. It doesn't get the best gas mileage, and with gas at a high cost at the moment, that is a bit troublesome. But I can't argue with the reliability. I've never had any serious mechanical issue and have only undertaken routine maintenance on the truck. I like that it has plenty of interior space. It is also easy to take out the bottom rear seat cushion and lay the seat back flat,... (more)
Story
At the gas station near my house, I frequently have people come up and ask me if I would be interesting in selling the Jeep. I always say "no." One time a man came up to me and asked me about selling the Jeep. I said, "You look familiar." He replied, "I asked you if you'd sell this about a year ago when I saw you at this same gas station." We both laughed. I said, "Try again next year."
Pros
The look. I think it's a classic and iconic auto design. It's instantly recognizable. I like the fact that it's a notoriously dependable vehicle. I like that it has been cheap to maintain and operate. I play music, so the large rear storage area and hatch entry make it a snap to load and unload my equipment. I've even camped out in the back of the Jeep a few times and slept in the back. I simply still enjoy driving it, even though it's almost 20 years old. I like the simple design of the dash and interior.
Cons
Does not get great gas mileage. The headliner has begun falling down. The black plastic trim has not aged well and is looking discolored. The radio has no tape or CD player and no aux input for device. The two speakers do not sound that great. That's about it.

I don't exactly know where to begin when talking about my 2016 Jeep Cherokee. It's everything I could have wanted in an SUV that I didn't even know I was looking for when I bought it from the dealership. Everything was exactly as it should be with its color, and it was the smoothest ride I've ever been on in the very first test drive. There was nothing about any other vehicle after driving this thing that was actually appealing enough to make me want to get in another car or SUV. I hadn't even really been looking for a car for sure, it caught me that much by surprise, and it was a breath of fresh air to feel almost like it made the decision for me, taking it completely out of my hands.
Story
My favorite memory using my Jeep at the time would have to be in the first week that I had it. I was still learning it, and it was still learning me, and though I thought I knew all there was to know about it, it proved me wrong. I went to go down some bumpy dirt roads and realized that I didn't trust that it was going to get me where I needed to go without me ending up needing assistance. I w... (more)
Pros
I know that it's more of an optional thing when talking about the outside of any vehicle, but I can't help but boast about how much I love the trim on my Jeep. I didn't know that it was possible to get everything blacked out on a vehicle when you bought it unless you specified it to them, but there it was, black wheels and trim all done for me, not a bit of chrome to be found. I love how simple the arrangement is of the different controls on the inside.
Cons
The way that this SUV shifts is a little different than I was used to, and even over two years later it still makes me pretty uncomfortable when it jolts because it's trying to memorize the way I drive. I don't ever drive the same way twice, and there are hiccups that are super annoying.

I love CarMax! I actually shopped online to find my Jeep. I went to the store and loved it even more in person. Wouldn't have done anything differently.
