I like the rugged design and build quality of the Jeep. It's 20 years old and has never given me any real trouble at 140,000 miles. There are no oil leaks, and the air conditioning still works. I have the two-door model, and I really like the larger front side windows. The truck has excellent visibility all around with hardly any blind spots. It handles well for a small SUV. The dark green paint still looks good. It doesn't get the best gas mileage, and with gas at a high cost at the moment, that is a bit troublesome. But I can't argue with the reliability. I've never had any serious mechanical issue and have only undertaken routine maintenance on the truck. I like that it has plenty of interior space. It is also easy to take out the bottom rear seat cushion and lay the seat back flat,... (more)
Story
At the gas station near my house, I frequently have people come up and ask me if I would be interesting in selling the Jeep. I always say "no." One time a man came up to me and asked me about selling the Jeep. I said, "You look familiar." He replied, "I asked you if you'd sell this about a year ago when I saw you at this same gas station." We both laughed. I said, "Try again next year."
Pros
The look. I think it's a classic and iconic auto design. It's instantly recognizable. I like the fact that it's a notoriously dependable vehicle. I like that it has been cheap to maintain and operate. I play music, so the large rear storage area and hatch entry make it a snap to load and unload my equipment. I've even camped out in the back of the Jeep a few times and slept in the back. I simply still enjoy driving it, even though it's almost 20 years old. I like the simple design of the dash and interior.
Cons
Does not get great gas mileage. The headliner has begun falling down. The black plastic trim has not aged well and is looking discolored. The radio has no tape or CD player and no aux input for device. The two speakers do not sound that great. That's about it.

I have owned two Jeep Cherokees in my life. I have loved the cars very much. The design of the car is near perfect. You can see out of every window and there are no huge blind spots. The car is also large enough on the inside where you don't feel cramped, while maintaining small enough exterior dimensions where you don't feel like you are driving an aircraft carrier. You have good visibility with the elevated seating as well. There are two noticeable problems with the car that I've found. One, the type of suspension the Cherokee has, called a track bar suspension. This style of suspension leads to what is known as the "death wobble". After years of wear, the suspension system combines to be very fragile, where if you're going at elevated speeds and hit a bump, the entire vehicle will s... (more)

One time I drove it to Florida. It was perfect.
Pros
Great room inside, high visibility, small dimensions
Cons
Easy to steal, poor suspension design

I love CarMax! I actually shopped online to find my Jeep. I went to the store and loved it even more in person. Wouldn't have done anything differently.
