We purchased our Mercedes Benz ML350 used in October of last year with about 77,000 miles already on it. My husband and I love this vehicle. The ride is smooth and clean. In nearly a year of ownership, we haven't had a single issue with it. The styling and comfort of the interior are superb. We are both on the shorter side, and the seats adjust well to allow us to drive or ride comfortable. The fuel economy is great for such a large vehicle. As a stay-at-home mom, I can run errands with my child for a week or two without ever needing to fill up, and longer trips don't necessitate lots of stops to refuel. Our family is expanding to four, and the large backseat will make adding a second car seat a breeze. Living in an area with lots of snowy days in the winter, I never have to worry abou... (more)
Story
We have a large hill leading up to our house. We always have fun with the amount of pickup this vehicle generates as we go up the hill. We feel like we're in a plane about to take off!
Pros
Quality, fuel economy, handling in all weather conditions
Cons
Some premature wear to the leatherette seats, cost of potential repairs

1999 Mercedes-Benz M-Class - 1999 ML320 Fairly Nice, but not Really up to Mercedes Usual Standards

The look of the 1999 Mercedes ML320 is nice on the outside, but rather moderate on the inside. The seats look and feel nice, but the plastic parts, such as the cup holders and ash trays have a cheap feel and look. They are not very substantial, and one cup holder as broken. The interior wood-look trim looks nice, but has cracked over time. There have been a few interior rattles, even when the vehicle was newer. Electronics have been good. The speakers for the stereo system have a bit of a buzz to them. Performance and reliability are fair. This vehicle is a gas guzzler but it has an eight-cylinder engine, so that's to be expected. The seats are quite comfortable on a long trip. There have been problems with it burning oil recently. At times, when I step on the accelerator hard enough t... (more)

When vehicle was new, our kids were so excited to get in and ride along, even if we were just doing mundane errands that they normally were not interested in.
Pros
Comfort Safety Plenty of space Large vehicle, but can fit into average parking space Heated seats Electronic seats Leather seats
Cons
Cheap plastic on some interior parts Problems with air conditioning Burning oil Loss of pick up at times when accelerating Speakers not great

The 2008 Mercedes ML 350 is a mid-sized luxury SUV with a 3.5 liter, 6 cylinder engine. The build quality and attention to detail is as one would expect from a Mercedes which is to say that it exceeds that of many other vehicles. The first thing a driver notices upon entering is that the interior is handsome and well thought out. Controls are logical and easy to operate. Handling is more car-like than what one would expect of an SUV. While the ML 350 is technically has an automatic transmission, paddle shifters are located behind the steering wheel for those who like to be more involved in the driving. Acceleration is surprisingly quick for a vehicle of this type. Overall the driving experience is quite enjoyable. The ride is comfortable without being too mushy and the seats co... (more)
Story
The sticker for the car listed it as having a CD changer but I couldn't for the life of me find it. Finally, while looking for the auxiliary jack in the glove compartment, I saw a silver button labelled "CDC." Pressing this button causes the CD changer to lower from the top of the glove compartment. I had no idea and actually had thought that the listing of a CD changer was a mistake.
Pros
It's a Mercedes which means high build quality and local dealerships with highly trained technicians if repairs are ever needed. The Harmon Kardon stereo system sounds great. Seats are comfortable and pleasant even on long trips. The gas mileage I've experienced is approximately 16 mpg in the city and 23 on the highway which is fantastic considering my previous vehicle was a GMC Yukon. The Mercedes ML 350 has a 6,000 pound towing capacity.
Cons
It's difficult to know if the sunroof is fully closed which has led to small leaks on a few occasions. The metal seems soft which has resulted in numerous hood dings from acorns falling from the oak trees near my driveway.
