This car has been great to me. I have had the car for almost 100,000 miles and I had nothing major wrong with the car. The trim level is very nice, with leather seats, power everything, sun roof, large engine, huge trunk and back seat. Small touches such as enabling the seat to tilt backwards as well as move backwards is very nice. I am able to adjust the seat perfectly, the steering wheel, and even the brake pedal!
Story
I used this car to bring my new born daughter home from the hospital. I am glad I had it, I feel safe in it, and I feel safe when she is in it.
Pros
This car feels like it's built like a tank! It feels like it's built sturdy and strong while driving it, and it feels safe. The car is made by Ford with Ford parts, so finding mechanics or parts is very easy and cheap. Ford is still not as well trusted of a brand as foreign models, however that works in this car's favor! It is cheaper, but runs just as good for just as long. This car has not had a single major issue and there are no signs of an issue happening, I think I can confidently say this car will get me another 75,000 miles, ending it's life at over 250,000 miles!
Cons
Gas Mileage. It gets a disappointing 20-23 miles per gallon. You pay for the large back seat and trunk in gas mileage, and you pay for excess speed in gas too.

2007 Mercury Montego - Comfort but lacking in gas mileage

Although the exterior of the car is fairly basic, the interior's style is handsome, clean lines. The leather heated seats make chilly mornings more bearable. Seats are generous in size and even the back seat has fairly generous leg room. It really is a very comfortable car to travel in. The trunk is deep with a pass thru. I love the sun roof! I use it in all ways and frequently...Truly a favorite feature. The car feels safe, is road noise quiet unless accelerating hard, lacks blind spots, has great rear back up sensors and is easy to drive for the most part. That said, it does lack in turning. The size of the car keeps turns wide and feels quite strained in some of the simplest of turns. The low profile tires are expensive. Found the car doesn't handle well in snow and icy conditions... Pros
Interior room, heated seats, sun roof, large trunk, rear back up sensors
Cons
Gas mileage in town and highway is lower than promoted. Tires are expensive and handling is poor in winter conditions

The Mercury Montego is a comfortable car, very safe, and quite big compared to other vehicles. I purchased it quickly after having an accident and not being able to drive my smaller sedan any more. This used car offered the comfort and peace of mind of safety in its size and weight. Now that the accident is many years in the past, I don't care for the vehicle any more. Yes, the leather seats are nice, but it doesn't have the extra amenities that I would like such as auxiliary audio input, seat warmers, etc.
Pros
Safety and comfort are the best features of this vehicle. The leather seats are comfortable and the back seat has lots of room, although it rarely gets used as this is mostly used for commuting alone or driving with my husband. We don't have children to sit in the back yet. It handles well for a large car, it does have all-wheel drive. Other than typical maintenance, oil changes and service, I haven't had to put any extra money into the vehicle. It is very reliable.
Cons
Gas mileage is not competitive with comparable FWD or RWD vehicles. I get between 20 and 23 mpg. It's not very sporty or young-feeling. Definitely an older person's vehicle.
