I had attended a Saturn demonstration several years ago and came out asking which would be better: working there or buying a Saturn? From the instant we drove it, I was hooked. The car drives well and has a very appealing design, inside and out. It is easy to maneuver and takes curves and corners well. Maintenance has been minimal as has recalls. This leads me to believe that the vehicle was quality controlled well. A definite plus was the hybrid feature. It did take a little getting used to to not hear the engine when stopped but miles per hour definitely increased from our previous vehicle, a Lincoln Mark VIII. The inside of the vehicle is comfortable for long drives and the dashboard has easy access to all instrumentation. The stereo and the auxiliary input both perform well ... (more)
Story
My husband absolutely hates when someone pulls up around us with music you could hear in the next county. He was so fed up one day that he turned the volume up on a Christian song we had playing full blast and lowered all the windows. We got dirty looks from the young man playing his rap but we got our point across.
Pros
As stated before, the Saturn is well suited for long drives. Seats are comfortable as are the headrests. The steering column instrumentation is well thought out and easy to use. Not having an adjustable wiper speed in previous cars, this was definitely a plus. The remote control for the vehicle works well and this is a feature I love. Especially with a new granddaughter and the possibility of shopping with her later this summer, having that remote will be a Godsend. I like the vehicle information system, again well thought out and easy to use. It is vital I have this information as I... (more)
Cons
There is so much good about this vehicle for the year it was built, that it is difficult to find problems. We do have a situation where oil is leaking and after several tries, mechanics have been unable to find or stop the leak. Additionally, we have had problems with the rear doors (both of them) either locking or unlocking. We have had to resort to rolling down the windows so a passenger can get in or out. Also the paint has begun to fade despite having a coating applied at time of purchase. Stains on the cloth seats are difficult to remove and we are still looking for a product tha... (more)

I really like the reliability that my car has provided me. The car is really well made and has been able to keep up with my rough driving habits. I have had this car for about seven years and have put around 130,000 miles on it, and it still runs very well. It has taken me road trips across the country with up to four other people comfortably. Even with 150,000 plus miles on the vehicle, it has definitely not degraded in driving quality. With regular maintenance and care, the car has outperformed my expectations, and I hope that it will continue to do so. I really like the spaciousness that the interior of the car affords and the size of the trunk to haul things for long road trips. I am able to permanently keep two foldable lawn chairs in the trunk at all time and still have room for ... (more)
Story
I used the car to work for Lyft one weekend, and I picked up a couple of passengers who were ecstatic with how large the interior was even though the car does not look large from the outside. They called the car comparable to the Tardis from the television show Dr. Who. This made me laugh pretty hard, since they were enamored with the car for this one fact.
Pros
The best thing about this car is the reliability that it provides me. I know that—even though I have had the car for seven years—it is going to start right up every time I get into the vehicle. The spaciousness that the car has with the well-designed driver and passenger seat having an indentation allows for the backseat passengers to have enough leg room while still affording the front passengers plenty of room. Even with all of this space that the car has inside, the car does not feel overly large or "boat-like."
Cons
The brakes and rotors seem to wear out extremely quickly, potentially due to an issue with the cars computer applying too much pressure. Although I perform regular maintenance, it is a bit difficult to do to the maintenance because of the car design. Unfortunately, in order to replace a headlight, you must remove both of the front tires and remove the wheel well to unscrew a bolt to loosen the headlamp housing. This causes changing a headlight to take an extremely long time. The only other thing that I can say is a bit concerning or troublesome is the transmission feeling like it may downs... (more)
