I have had this car for a long time, and I still love it! The fuel economy has always been really good, even compared with newer rentals I've driven. It's a very reliable vehicle no matter what the weather is like. I feel safe in my car. I have maintained all the routine scheduled service checks and have really had no major problems. The A/C is still cold, and the electrical has not been an issue. It has taken me on many great road trips and fulfilled all my needs for work and recreation. I am able to deliver oversized paintings to the galleries and clients with ease. The Forester has been a great car for my Weimaraner too! She loves the oversized sunroof!
Story
We needed to transition from a sedan to a SUV. We tried several small SUVs and none of them were just right until we got to the Forester. We actually selected our Forester for our dog. The Subaru's were the only ones in which the seats laid completely flat! We padded up the car with some cushions and quilts and 99 percent of the time we were a roving dog bed. It was always dog ready. Sometimes... (more)
Pros
Oversized sunroof, large cargo area, backseats fold down completely flat, large back window, heated seats, maneuverability, feel nimble and can turn on a dime, lots of compartments, extra plugs for power, and secret compartment.
Cons
Small patch of carpet has worn thin, slight "air" sound on the highway, AWD more expensive than regular vehicles, and back windshield wiper blades are hard to find.

This was my first AWD car, and I'll never have anything else. I love how it handles. I feel connected to the road when I'm driving. I like the overall size. I can haul things, and it doesn't feel huge on the road. It's been a good value for the money too.
Story
We headed to Cloudland Canyon for a doggie camp out. Three dogs and one Weimaraner because everyone knows Weimaraners aren't really dogs. It was an awesome trip. Lots of hiking in the mountains and the weather was great. All the gear fit in the Forester, and there was still room for comfy dog bed.
Pros
The mileage is still pretty good for a car of its age. I still really like it. It makes moving cumbersome things easily. I like the AWD and the way it handles. The size of the sunroof at the time was really oversized. There is a lot of visibility from the inside when you are backing up. I love how big the back and side windows are compared to newer cars.
Cons
The worst part of my Forester is that as the years have passed, there is noise sound on the highway. It's not as "tight" as it was when I first got it. The interior seems to show a lot more wear than other cars. There are places where the carpet is thinning and the seats have cracked.
