Bought a new Subaru Impreza Hatchback in the end of Dec 2012. As of now, almost 30k miles on it and no issues with the car. We live in the northeast and the car is great for all seasons - crazy snow, rain, ice, summer (with the sun roof etc.). However, as a 6'3" tall individual, I find the car is not as spacious as I initially had hoped.
Story
The car is super durable - in the winter, even though we had 3 ft high snow banks and ice - I was actually able to just drive over the bank at the end of my driveway without needing to shovel it!
Pros
The best parts of the Subaru are its durability and reliability. I can use it any time of year without worry since it has all wheel drive. It never has any mechanical issues. And it gets great gas mileage and is an easy car to drive both in cities and in the country.
Cons
The car is a lot smaller than I would have hoped. Since I am a tall person, my head almost touches the ceiling of the car and I need to roll back the sunroof cover. The back seat and trunk storage isn't great - I often need to put down the back seat to accommodate packing the trunk for a long road trip for 2 people. Depending on the size of your family, you may want to go one or two steps up in the Subaru family (Outback or Forrester).

I purchased my car second hand to give my older son a safe car to drive in Montana winters. He drove it in Montana for three years, and the only problems he ever had with it occurred when the car got run into while parked on the street. He drove the car hundreds of miles over snowy roads to ski areas and never got stuck--I felt very secure knowing that he had a good car in the snow, and that with snow tires, he could handle almost anything. I gave him the car as a college graduation present. In his current job and location, he doesn't need a car, and my vehicle was getting old, so I purchased it from him. I have driven it for a year here in Massachusetts, and I am as pleased to have it as I was for him to have it. It gets good gas mileage, and is good in the snow here too. I have dri... (more)
Story
The first time I drove it, I forgot it was a 5 speed and drove 40 miles wondering why the car was making so much noise
Pros
Good in snow Good mileage reliable cheap to operate
Cons
Small hard to see out back windows when looking over drivers right shoulder

They negotiated quickly with me via email and we settled on a great price. They were very helpful, and when I came to pick up the car we were in and out quickly. The paperwork for financing was painless as well.

They expedited the purchasing process. They didn't try to upsell me anything. I knew what I wanted and contacted the dealership online. I test drove the car without a dealer (which was strange but nice) and signed paperwork that night.
