The car stayed in Wisconsin for most of its life, so the paint is chipping quite a bit on the back and there is Wisconsin rust on the bottom. For all purposes, this car is extremely reliable. It has had some electrical issues, and we recently had to replace the brakes, but it definitely has outlived the other old cars in the family and has had less problems than they did. I love how quickly it accelerates, and I love that I can rely on it in bad weather, including snow. I love that it has a smaller body and is very easy to drive. I learned how to drive in this car just a few years ago. The previous owners (my grandparents) bought the car when it was new and always took good care of it. My grandpa drove it countless times back and forth from northern Wisconsin to North Carolina and neve... (more)
Story
When I was learning how to drive, I was very timid on the road and would be so embarrassed when I would hit the gas too hard because the car has good acceleration, so everyone would be lurching around in the car, scared to death that I was going to accidentally hit something.
Pros
My favorite things about the car are the gas mileage, small body, quick acceleration, and overall reliability. Now that the car is much older, it has lost some reliability, but it has never totally failed us. We had to replace the brakes this year, but up until we had the money we had to drive around with bad brakes. The mechanic said that it was a miracle that the car didn't wreck when the brake light came on because he had the same issue in a newer SUV and the car flipped when it happened. The gas mileage is stunning, especially when the oil is new. I also love the small body and fast ac... (more)
Cons
The pros outweighed the cons up until recently simply because of the vehicle's age and our growing family. I do not like that the car only has two airbags, limited space, does not have power locks, does not have a cd player or place for an auxiliary cord (only has a tape player), that the paint is chipping off of the back of the car (extremely noticeably), is not very comfortable for people over 5'9, minor interior electrical issues (which have sometimes made driving at night more difficult), glare on the windshield (probably same with all older cars, though), and that the radio won't reme... I recently moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the road to my new home is dirt, rock, and at a steep incline. My Toyota Camry wasn't handling it well. I spoke with my new letter carrier, and she told me that her Subaru, which she used to deliver the mail, had over 300,000 miles on it and was still running strong. It handled the mountains roads better than any other vehicle she'd tried. I promptly traded in my Camry for a Subaru Impreza. I love it! It takes these roads like a champ, and it's small--so it fits my small stature perfectly. I love that it's a hatch back because in that capacity, it serves as a small pick up truck when I need to haul things. I recently met a neighbor, and as he walked past my car, he patted and said, "I see you got you a Subaru--them thangs handle these m... (more)
Pros
It sits low to the ground for better mountain handling. The hatchback serves as a mini pick up for hauling things. The back seat lays down flat for hauling large items. The mpg is displayed while driving. There are special gear features for very steep inclines. There is a special feature that locks all four wheels together to help when stuck in mud or other slippery conditions.
Cons
I miss the compass I had in my Camry. There is no lumbar support. It can be quite loud when driving due to wind/lack of proper sealing. The owner's manual is not user friendly--I couldn't figure out how to put it in four-wheel drive or many of the other functions.

I was not hassled or rushed during the sale. I paid cash for the car so the owner paid the taxes. He answered all the questions I had and the staff were very diligent with the paperwork involved before and after the sale.

Facilities were nice and clean. There were complementary beverages available. The Salesperson was not pushy or desperate to get the sale. The Salesperson was honest about not knowing the answers to all the questions I asked. The entire process was explained and easy to follow.
