Had the car for seven years and have no regrets! Love the simple, easy to work on, naturally aspirated V6 with good torque even at low RPMs. Bulletproof transmission that shifts smooth always. A/C never failed, with original compressor still in use. Parts are not expensive and lots of mods on the market for off-road enthusiast. Awesome off-road capabilities even in stock configuration. Reasonable ride quality on the highway as long as you don't corner too hard. Plenty of room inside for passengers and cargo. Good all-around car if you live in suburb and like outdoor adventures. Practical in every aspect. Fun fact: used the trunk as playground for my kids (two and four years old) while camping, as you can roll down the rear window.
Story
Went camping with the family all over the region. Kids slept in the car, and we stayed in the tent.
Pros
Simple and reliable SUV. Roomy, has lots of pockets, compartments and huge trunk. Easy to add mods, many are bolt on. Great for bad roads/off roading. Not too big, easy to park and drive even in crowded city. Good resale value.
Cons
Old school transmission that is slow. Gas mileage is very bad. Theft is common for these cars. Cost of old used cars is high. Not the most comfortable cabin, few options available even in higher trims. Towing capability is on the low side.

I love that over the 12 years I've owned the vehicle, I've had almost no mechanical problems with it. At over 250,000 miles, the only things wrong are minor cosmetic issues. Overall, a great car for general town use and occasional dirt road driving. Would definitely recommend to a friend who had a similar use case in mind.
Story
I've taken this car to a lake nearby to stargaze with my wife. We could take a nap in the back waiting for stars to change and were also able to look out the sunroof when the wind picked up.
Pros
Very reliable. I haven't worried about getting stuck somewhere or if I would be paying a lot of money for repairs. It's a great size for me--small enough for everyday commuting use, but big enough to sleep in the back on a camping trip. It's large enough to drive several people around with baggage but doesn't feel like a boat when I'm on my own. Having a few power items (windows, door locks) is nice for when it's just me and I want to put down a window. While the interior trim is aged, it's continued to work.
Cons
Interior is starting to feel a bit aged; however, everything is just working. I just don't have a big need for a cassette player. The seat is starting to crack and breakdown, but I can't complain too hard for how much I've used the vehicle. Being an older and larger vehicle, it also doesn't get fantastic mileage, but it isn't prohibitive.
