I haven't found a car that was large and could handle really well in a while. So I was surprised how well the BMW 745i performed when I test drove it. As it was a private purchase, I paid cash and left. I have not been disappointed. I have taken it up to Autobahn speeds on a private highway and realized that it handles just as well as most cars do at much slower speeds. I also appreciate the electronics and sound system. I have an old school cd changer in the trunk that came with it as a possible custom add-on that the first owner made.. At night, it glows blue. One night, I drove down to Mexico and the customs workers checked the trunk. They were impressed because there was a beautiful blue light shining in a pristine trunk.
Story
I drove some business clients around and showed them how I could order a wine cooler for the rear seats. They immediately went to look for the same model BMW.. They were also impressed that the Saudis made them their diplomatic limousine car. Good enough for business friends.
Pros
Great power. Good gas mileage for a large car. 18/26 is very good for a gasoline engine. Market value will stay the same forever. One of the safest cars on the road.
Cons
Paint flecks on the hood chipping off because of heat, cats, salt, air. Can't park it at places like La Jolla Shores because people try and break into it. Maintenance is expensive.
