I bought a used Aveo for cash, $5000. It worked well for the first two months. When I moved here to Las Vegas, it began overheating. I had work done on it, hoses replaced, etc. Two weeks later, overheating again. I had more work done on it. A week later, more problems. It was a nice car for putting around local. I feel taking two roundtrips between Denver and Las Vegas was too much for the car to handle. It is maybe a good car for a student to get around campus but maybe not a strong car for heavy use.
Story
I was able to get parking spaces where others would totally give up. The little car could squeeze into a mouse hole.
Pros
It was great on gas. I could park the little thing almost anywhere. I went from Colorado to Nevada on two and a half tanks of gas. That was insane.
Cons
It wasn't a really sturdy car. Once things started going wrong, forget it. Game over.

My copper colored Chevy Aveo was a great choice for me as a first time buyer and as someone who just got their license. I bought this car used, so of course it had some minor wear and tear. I love that my Aveo has a sun roof, but I don't love that it only lifts up about 3 inches, rather than sliding back the entire way. For as small as the Aveo looks it has a pretty good sized back seat, it really surprised me. I dislike how the only way to lock/unlock the car from the drivers seat is by pulling or pushing down on the actual lock itself, there is no lock/unlock button. I'm also a girl who is always carrying tons of things with her all the time, and I just wish there were more compartments for me to store such things. I do love how compact it is. I've always been pretty bad at parking, ... (more)
Story
I took my first road trip (without my parents, or any other parental supervision) to California in this car. The Aveo took everything like a champ. It drove the California hills with a little bit of trouble but we did eventually make it, held all of the luggage, souvenirs, and snacks (which we were worried it wouldn't), and even was comfy enough to have us sleep in it for a few nights of the t... Pros
Though the Aveo looks small, that's quite deceiving because the backseat actually has a lot more space than one would expect. Along with being compact it is SO easy to park, it maneuvers awesome and can fit into places many other cars can't. Though there is only vents for A/C and heat in the front of the car, the air circulates really well in the car, due to how much smaller it is compared to other cars. I love that it has cruise control for the road trips we make in it, it always comes in handy. It also has tons of trunk space for a college student who isn't lugging around THAT much stuff... (more)
Cons
I did buy my car used, so some of these things might just be wear and tear, so bear with me. The cover over the gas cap on my Aveo is on its last leg, sometimes it pops open sometimes it doesn't. I went through a carwash the other day and the sunroof leaked, total bummer, even though it was shut and sealed all the way. It has tons of trouble heading up big hills and takes a lot more time to catch up to the speed limit. I also wish that there was a lock/unlock button in the car, so that I don't have to manually pull up the lock on the door. And when you unlock/lock the driver side door it l... (more)
