The Chevy Impala was made to last for a long time already rolling over to 200,000 miles. It has easy access to the battery and where you insert needed fluids. As long as the vehicle is taken care of properly you can get great gas mileage. This car has a get up and go kind of power.
Story
One time my husband and I were trying to drive up a path on a mountain, and almost made it to the top. That's when we realized its actually a four wheeler path. This car can do amazing things.
Pros
My favorite feature of this car is fact that the front seat does not have a console between on the driver's side and passenger sides. This is on of the only newer cars that actually has a bench sit. However in the older style cars you had to move the whole bench. I can fit 6 people in my car legally although its not comfortable to have that body in the front it can be done. Also my keys do not go into the steering wheel column but on the actual dash itself. The trunk of this car is amazing I can probably easily put 10 pieces of luggage in the trunk. Also the impala for this year was not ma... (more)
Cons
One of the biggest cons is the transmissions that have been put in these cars. I purchased this car when it only had 37,000 miles and I have had to put 3 transmissions into the car. This is a known problem with Chevy transmissions.

Up front I give the car a 3.5 out of 5. It's styling was not overly inspired, but certainly not ugly. We purchased the Impala after having bought 2001 Chevrolet Trailblazer that was a real lemon. Don't buy one! The dealership, after having to do several warranty repairs to the Trailblazer, made us a very good deal on the Impala. It was a 2003 LS2 with the 3.8 V6. Overall, we had very few issues with the car. It had one GM recall for a defective catalytic converter that the dealership addressed very quickly. There was only one other mechanical issue that occurred after over 100,000 miles, we had to replace the water pump. Other than that no real problems. The gas mileage was around the low 20s, which is not too bad. It had an excellent stereo, which I liked and was overall a durable veh... (more)
Story
When we had it in the shop for the catalytic converter replacement, there was another Impala in that had experience an issue with its heated seats. The driver's side seat was melted! Glad our car did not have that option.
Pros
Good stereo, decent mileage and power, reliable.
Cons
One recall for catalytic converter, not the most stylish car.

The salesmen that went through the buying process with us were very kind and seemed reasonable. They didn't pressure and it seemed like they were concerned with us purchasing the best car for what our family needed. I was pregnant at the time, and a new baby was the main reason we were shopping for a safer car.

The salesmen were not high pressure or pushy. They allowed us to test drive multiple vehicles and they allowed us to go on our own, without them in the car. They even offered for us to take one out of town to test drive to our child's ballgame. They were the most friendly salesmen we have encountered thus far.
