Well first of all, I have purchased a Chevy Cobalt about little over a year ago. Thus far, the car has been good to me in that the car has performed very well. For example, when the weather has been excessively hot, the car has started right up and the air cooled the car in no time. In addition, the car also started right up whenever the weather was extremely cold outside, and the heater heated the car easily within a few minutes. During normal driving conditions, the car always seemed to drive normally, and the car has good mileage per gallon of gas. Moreover, the car has some good horsepower because I usually get groceries or items from the hardware store, and the car never seems to have a problem with overloading it. However, there were some concerns about the car which the co... (more)
Story
My family loves to go to state parks in our spare time. Whenever we go, we always drive the Cobalt. One time at Washington state park, we were caught up in a big storm, and the rain washed mud down onto the road we were on. Other cars could not get out easily, but the Chevy Cobalt drove right through the mud, and we were able to get out of the park safely and quickly.
Pros
A top feature of this particular car is the fact that the car is fully loaded. I like the fact that the driver seat is electronic, so I can adjust the car seat with ease. The factory CD player, which came with the car, is ideal to play my CDs since I am old school still. Moreover, the automatic windows allow me to quickly roll up or down the windows whenever I need to without having to crank them up or down. Also, there is plenty of room in the back seat area to put two car seats and an extra person without being cramped. The car has incredible power about it. The car allows me to ha... (more)
Cons
There is always a flip side to a great car. Unfortunately, the car has many recalls, which had raised concerns about how safe the car was for me to drive. For example, there was a recall for the ignition on the car, which would make the car shut off while you were driving it. Another recall was about the fuel tank which could be cracked. The fuel pump was faulty and fuel lines were faulty also. In addition, the steering column could also come off of the axle causing a wreck. The seals around the doors leaked as well as the A/C unit leaked down into the floorboard of the car. The alt... (more)

I chose the 2009 Chevrolet four door Cobalt, since I was mainly interested in getting a drive-to-work car that would give me a reasonably good gas mileage but would have enough room to carry four to five passengers in comfort on log trips. This car filled the bill, since I have used it for work up until I retired. Then I took several trips on vacation, visiting family, etc. and found it comfortable on a long ride for myself and other passengers. Also, I found the purchase price was very reasonable.
Story
There have been instances when I didn't have the use of a pickup and was able to get some items into the trunk of my car to bring home. Once, my daughter and I went to an auction and bought enough that we actually had the trunk and back seats piled roof high! We laughed all the way home at our little car/treasure hauler!
Pros
This car gets 30 miles per gallon but is large enough to avoid being a "compact," which I didn't want. Since I have retired, gas mileage isn't as big an issue. I found myself needing to buy some 2x4 lumber pieces and was concerned about hauling them home but found that I had plenty of room after folding down the back seats. Storage is absolutely great! Needless to say, if I got on a long trip or to one of the local auctions, I can throw stuff in the trunk and not worry about space. I also like the DVR player and the cruise control features, which are really nice on long trips.
Cons
There are only two things that I consider negative—I'm not crazy about the color of the car (light beige), but since it was the only make and model on the car lot and the price was right, I didn't mind so much. Also, a few years ago, GM had a recall to fix a problem with the ignition key access, so I had to take the car into the shop, but GM paid for it, so it wasn't a big negative, just inconvenient.

The gm of the dealership, Paul, was friendly, caring, knowledgeable and helped me to understand what I was getting for the price of the vehicle. The finance manager was also helpful and caring. Together those two folks made the buying process less stressful. I also appreciate the helpful and thorough services staff. The service folks help me to understand the workings of my hi-tech car.

They were very patient with us as they located the best lender for our vehicle. It definitely took longer than expected but they allowed us to take the vehicle with a good faith down payment. They are all very personable and helpful. They were even willing to look up more vehicles that fit our needs.
