Alero is quite nice.
The Oldsmobile Alero is a pretty terrific car for its price. There are many more positives than negatives to this little gem. The car is classy looking with a styling that will probably never be old-fashioned. Although the car is a roomy sedan, it looks quite sporty. The interior has comfortable seats with quality fabric that is easy to clean. The stereo has many nice features that comparable cars do not have such as auto-adjusting volume. The heater and air conditioning work quite quickly, and the blowers are powerful with a nice range from low to high. The dashboard vinyl is a big disappointment; it has wrinkled and cracked beyond repair. The most frustrating things about the car is that the turn signal lever does not work properly even though it has been replaced twice. The blower knob was the first thing to break on the car, and it broke within the first year and had to be replaced. The trunk space is terrific in that it holds a mini spare tire and still has a deep trunk to hold music instruments, groceries, and fairly large boxes.

A decent beginner car.
My Alero was the first car I purchased, in the 8 years I've owned it, it has been mostly mechanically sound, with just routine maintenance required. However, there have been some issues that occurred in my ownership; the turn signals would randomly stop working until I replaced the switch around the steering column and the driver door sensor never worked so the radio would stay on until the 10 minute auto shut off occurred both issues are common occurrences in alerts according to Google searches. The car is very noisy on the road especially highways and the door rattles frequently. After 80,000 miles there was a noticeable shutter at highway speeds. The seats are very comfortable and have lived up to nearly daily driving. The vehicle has some interesting electronic quirks where the instrument panel will just die for a short period of time while driving and then kick back on. The car does about as expected on fuel economy and as it ages the fuel economy has gone down but is still acceptable. The styling is not super impressive and is just a run of the mill sedan but overall the car has been great as my first purchase.
