I upgraded from my 2004 Vibe and I couldn't be happier. I got the 2.4L engine, and it really gave me the power I needed to accelerate on the highway that I didn't have before. The addition of the AUX port is not worth the loss of the in-dash navigation system, but an external nav is significantly cheaper than the internal. After six years, the A/C is weakening--not going out, just weakening. Probably the biggest benefit of this vehicle is the hatchback. It's like having an SUV without the 2009 SUV gas mileage. I get 26/24, which is less than my previous 33/30 in the '04, but still reasonable. This is a great car for singles, couples, or couples with small children, even for trips, but anything more than that and you're going to have to upgrade. Sadly, Pontiac has closed and this model ... The NWA Fourth of July Fireworks Show is a great place to tailgate, and this car tailgates almost as good as any pickup. Almost. So I met up with some friends and we turned the back of my car into a buffet.
A Favor
The hatchback and folding seats provide a huge amount of storage for its size. The 2.4L premium engine provides excellent power with only a minor reduction in gas mileage, which is an excellent 26 highway/24 in town. It's a compact, so parking is a cinch. Toyota is responsible for most of the manufacturing, so the vehicle has incredible reliability. And the 2009 redesign really adds some sleekness to the geeky-looking older models, especially the gorgeous chrome wheels.
En Contra
The huge storage is only available when you can lay the seats down; when you drive four or, uncomfortably, five people, you're left with the same trunk space as a sedan. If you want a navigation system; you're out of luck; it was discontinued in this model. The smaller rear side windows are purely aesthetic; you have no blind-spot visibility. For those spoiled by new cars, the manual seats may seem old-fashioned. Also, again, this vehicle is discontinued, so 2009 was the last model year, so you'll have to get it used.

I love my Vibe for a lot of reasons. The biggest one being that I haven't had any issues with it in five years! This was astounding to me, as there's always something going on with cars for me, but this one is perfect. It is very responsive and has a lot of "get up and go" which is great for someone who is a defensive driver. It performs well on both the highway and in my small city. The gas mileage is incredible as long as the tires are taken care of, if they're underinflated though, you lose a lot of that benefit, so be sure to keep them well cared for. The only thing I don't like is that there seems to be a little bit of a blind spot as the driver where my peripherals are blocked out at times because of the plastic bar near the window. Also, the console is slightly small and there's... (more)

Watching a drive-in movie in the back with my kids with the hatch open was a great night for everyone involved.
A Favor
Great speed, handling and gas mileage. I love how it looks and the fact that I've had no issues whatsoever.
En Contra
There is a slight design flaw in the interior making it less than perfect.

2003 Pontiac Vibe - I believe in the longevity of this car.

My vehicle, a 2003 Pontiac Vibe was a car that I sought out after driving my grandmother's 2002 version. The thing I like about it most is the mileage I get out of my gas. I purchased the vehicle from a used car dealer with minor issues, however; to push the car's lifetime a little further, my father and I replaced the engine, shocks, and mounted a radio as well as some interior details. We still have the same transmission. The car is known for it's travel features. There's tons of packing departments, stealth stashes, two forms of car chargers and low mechanical issues. What I dislike about the vehicle is trim feature. The trim on the exterior body of the vehicle is popular for falling off. My grandmother has completely lost her fenders around her front passenger tire and passenger do... (more)

I have many fun and memorable stories. This car is my best friend. This car has seen me at my worst and my best. This car is where I met some of the people I talk to today. I joined a football team and my car was the away game car for many teammates as their 2011 Altimas as running hot, their 2009 chargers where needing my jump. My family depend on this car, a lot of people who have older used... (more)
A Favor
My favorite thing about that the car looks as if it belongs to an older library lady, so it's unattractive to thieves. I have nice system in my vehicle, I have plenty of stealth areas in the side panels to hide valuables so I can feel secure in having my car out in hot spots where breaking and entering cars are high risk.
En Contra
A con this car does have is possible the heavy hood. The hood itself probably weights between 75-90 pounds, I do still have the stick, but if that stick ever goes, I'm not sure if I can replace something dependable to keep that hood up safely. If that thing falls on you, you're out.
