2001 Pontiac Grand Am - Good student car
I got this car used and it's still running with 185k miles on it. The car drives really well, is comfortable, and gets decent mileage considering its age and size.
And it's ROOMY, the trunk is huge, all of the passengers have ample legroom, and I don't feel bad if I've got a full load of people in it.
But, there’s some negatives to it also. There are major blind spots for the driver, which makes driving it in the city a bit of an “experience” because you constantly have to be looking over your shoulder to see what’s behind you.
Since I bought my car used, it has some problems that you might want to look out for: sometimes the car seems to be “dead” and it won’t start, although it’s always started eventually. That’s the only major mechanical problem I’ve ever had with it. It’s perform... (more)
Historia
I used the car in a short film that I made, and we had to put 3 people with production gear in the back seat, plus the two actors in the front. We were in it for at least 6 hours in the middle of the summer, and we couldn't have the AC on because of the noise. It was a "fun" experience for sure, but it turned out great!
A Favor
It’s roomy insider
Large trunk
Drives well
Good gas mileage
Looks good
En Contra
Has large blind spots
Interior is average
Wheels are ugly
2003 Pontiac Grand Am - Fairly reliable, kinda cute, small
Overall my vehicle is well liked. It is just cute and fast enough to not be mocked. I've had few problems with the car compared to vehicles I've driven in the past. I like the little bit of kick it has. The interior is holding up pretty well and has virtually no damages to time. The exterior however has a couple rust spots, some trim has come off, among a few other eyesores. One major issue is the size of the interior. I'm just an average sized/slightly petite girl and even I can't get comfortable in the car. I can't transport really tall and large men. They just can't fit.
Historia
Doesn't do amazing in the snow, but I haven't gotten stuck yet.
A Favor
I really like that it has slightly better performance than many other vehicles its age out on the road. In five years of ownership I've only had to replace the fuel pump. I like the look of the instrument panel and vehicle overall. It's good quality.
En Contra
Outside is not holding up to time that well. It is so cramped inside. The middle seat in the back is a joke, if there are three people the middle had better be an anorexic midget. It is inconvenient when there's a recall on your vehicle.
1997 Pontiac Grand Am - Great car for the miles
I purchased this vehicle with over 240K miles on it. Considering the extreme number of miles already on it, the car is great. I have had some issues with radiator fluid leaking, a bad battery, and a broken door panel. However, all of this could be due to bad upkeep by the previous owner. I wish I could have had it from mile 1.
So far, the car has mostly been running well. I'm hoping that proper maintenance will keep it that way for a least another 20K miles, if not more.
Historia
A friend of mine who does not have a car fell in love with a large citrus tree at our local hardware store. We had to open the sun roof and stick the top of the tree through to be able to get it home. I'm sure we got some odd looks, but the tree made it to her house and is still doing well.
A Favor
Comfortable seats, steering wheel controls for the stereo, and cruise control. Still running well at over 240K miles. I love the sun roof.
En Contra
Power window mechanism failing on passenger side door. Poorly placed cup holders.
