I purchased this car thinking it would be a great addition to our family, but unfortunately it has failed to meet expectations. Early on we had issues with the cooling fan and the Ford Lync System. Both required replacements and fortunately they were both under warranty. The worst, however, was a catastrophic cooling fan failure that occurred at roughly 78,000 miles on the odometer and just over 5 years in to ownership. The engine block cracked and the entire engine needed to be replaced. Ford helped a bit with the payment, but we ultimately had to pay ~$3000 to repair the engine. I was not expecting this type of repair for a car that was only 5 years old. I was very disappointed and will never purchase a Ford again.
Story
Fun to drive in the snow with the different four wheel drive modes available.
Pros
Good looking outside design. Comfortable ride and roomy inside. Extra electrical plugs in the front and back.
Cons
Shoddy parts. Engine needed replacement after 78,000 miles.

2006 Ford Explorer - Terrible car.

This car is big. It uses a huge amount of gas for the smallest amount of mileage. It can haul a lot of stuff. The two seats in the back come completely forward, and the trunk park is also quite large, so you can carry many bags or firewood or whatever in this vehicle. However, the parts go out quickly. The tires, the brakes, the transmission, all have had to be replaced rather quickly. It's not that old of a car, and it's needed several expensive repairs. The car doesn't drive smooth, unlike other SUVs or other trucks. The ride is quite jerky.
Story
My sister and her bridesmaids hanging out the windows drunk after her bachelorette party.
Pros
The car can carry a lot of stuff. It can tow something. It's great in the winter.
Cons
Terrible on gas. Horrible parts. Horrible wear and tear.
