2012 Ford Fiesta - Safe, reliable vehicle.
I purchased this car with safety in mind, having just been totaled with my previous car. Looking online, I found that the Fiesta rated highest and along with its efficient gas mileage, I was sold. I have driven this car all across the country — to California and back, to the East coast, and the southern states. It shows no signs of slowing down. It has been incredibly reliable.
Story
I am a music maker, and the first album I released, I cranked open the windows and blasted my songs from inside the car while driving to work.
Pros
Early on, my car consistently got about 42 miles to the gallon and five years later, it's still close to 40 miles. For a small car, it feels more spacious than it looks — I have been able to carry my whole life in this thing, during the couple moves I have had while I have owned this. For a basic model of a car, this has a pretty good sound system, and I have spent many highway miles cruising to good tunes. This car is a very smooth ride and easy to drive. The blind spot mirror on the driver's side has saved my life multiple times.
Cons
There isn't a CD player, though that isn't a huge problem, since it has an aux port. My model doesn't have an automatic lock, which can be annoying. This also includes the trunk, which does not pop open. It is a latch trunk, which is slightly inconvenient. I wish there was a blind spot mirror on the passenger side.
2014 Ford Fiesta - Lemons don't make a lemonade.
This car is by far the worst vehicle I have ever driven. I was under the assumption that purchasing a new car would save me from headaches, however, this car has caused me nothing but headaches. Ford as a company is garbage and have known about my vehicle's issues for years, however they refuse to acknowledge it and fix the issue. I hate making monthly payments on it because all I want to do is just get rid of it and save money to get something that's actually worth my time. The only things I really even like about the car are the gas mileage, and the fact that I chose the SE model so I have lights that I can change throughout the car to impress people with my fancy bucket on wheels.
Story
Driving to Key West and sleeping in my back seat because hotels around that area were way too expensive.
Pros
The car gets great gas mileage, it has a huge trunk for the size of the actual vehicle, and it's pretty easy to maintain.
Cons
This car as well as other Ford vehicles from 2011 onward have had a known transmission issue that they refuse to fix. I have had my car in the shop 5+ times trying to fix the issue, but it remains unfixable. The tires wore out much quicker than any other vehicle I've had.
