I love Fords and have had a great history with them. I love the fact that the Explorer is a 4 wheel drive sport utility car. This is a great feature for those of us who venture mountain roads and rough terrain. Whether you are an adventurer or just traveling through this car is cozy. Ford is known for their name and dependability of their products and this is a popular model. I myself would not go out and buy another myself, but if it was given to me such as this was, I would take it. I always say that's why it has given me so much trouble. The car will have its dependable moments but when it breaks down it seems to be at the worst possible moment and something major. Every time I think I'm good for a while it catches me off guard with something else. Good luck to anyone who also has t... (more)
Story
I have many memories in this car. First of all it use to be my grandpas car so I can remember riding with him and him yelling at men half his age. I can also remember when he started to get sick and his driving was like Mr Magoo. This is the car he hit the curb with a time or two. When I got the car It was really needed cuz we were living in the mountains. We got snow and this car got us throu... (more)
Pros
I love that I sit higher than many other cars which gives me a great line of sight on the road. It also gives you a little more respect from other drivers. The explorer is also a roomy car great for traveling or off roading. My particular car has a sunroof which I love. The cool breeze is great anytime but especially morning and late night. I also love the leather seats. In my particular model there is also a temperature gauge for the outside which is great. I use this feature all the time. Its great to gauge on the freeway when heat is increased on a black surface. I also have enjoyed usi... (more)
Cons
There are so many issues and problems with this car. First of all I have had nothing but trouble with this thing engine wise. I have replaced so many parts such as battery, voltage regulator, starter, ignition, wires, plugs, rotors, brakes, seals, hubs, windows, etc.... I think my biggest problem with this particular model is the 4 wheel drive goes out all the time in cold weather. If you live in snow you will burn thru the electronic switch. I lived in a small community and it was a problem for every Explorer. This issue needs to be addressed What's the point in having 4 wheel drive if it... (more)

My Explorer is a deep red color with light silver highlights. It seats seven people, which was a huge factor for me wanting to buy it. To date, it’s my most favorite car that I have ever owned. The fact that my Ford Explorer seats seven people is a gigantic positive for my family and me. My husband and I have three young children, ages 4,6, and 8. As you can imagine, they are a bit rambunctious and they always need their space. We love how spacious this car is. The kids can all be sitting in the back or rear seat but have enough room to themselves. They never feel crowded. In addition, we often go on family outings with my parents. It’s a huge deal to have a car that seats seven people and it’s even more convenient that we only need one car for an outing. Our only complaint about the ... (more)
Story
We have taken the Ford Explorer to the drive-in a few times. It's so spacious that the kids never complain about being cramped or uncomfortable throughout the movie. In addition, they love to pop out of the moon roof, if no one is behind them, to watch the screen that way!
Pros
I believe this was covered in the previous question. However, we love that the car is spacious and seats seven people. It helps makes outings more enjoyable. We also like the sunroof and that each person has their adjustable air vents. It's also a smooth ride, not at all jumpy, and very quiet.
Cons
We really dislike the low gas mileage and wish it were better. In addition, we would love to see WiFi enabled.
