I purchased my 2012 Honda CR-Z 3 years ago, and have been very happy with my experiences with it. It has been extremely reliable and has driven over 100,000 miles without needing any service outside of routine maintenance. I find it easy to reach between 40 and 45 mpg on the highway, which is great for the mileage I have to put on it for work. It is small, but comfortable for 1 or 2 people to ride in. The car feels sporty, and is very fun to drive with the 6 speed manual transmission. I sit in this car for 8-10 hours a day, and have found the seats to be comfortable, with a good driving position. Some of the plastic interior pieces feel a little cheap, and get damaged easily, but the overall quality of the car is high. Since having a child, I have found the lack of rear seats to be inc... Story
I have a great memory of driving up the coast of Maine with my wife, before we had our first child. Speeding along the windy mountainous coastal roads, having the windows open, and just really enjoying the trip. The car's maneuvering and sportiness really added to the experience.
Pros
The sporty feel, and 6 speed transmission. It is reliable, and has not had any problems in over 100,000 miles. It is very comfortable to sit in for prolonged periods of time. It gets great fuel economy on the highway.
Cons
The vehicle only has 2 seats, causing issues if you ever add a little one to your family. The hybrid engine and battery are heavy, making the car less efficient than it could be. If you really need to push the vehicle, it doesn't have quite as much power as you'd like it to. Some of the plastic interior pieces break easily.

The Honda CR-Z is a fun to drive "sport" hybrid. While I wanted to get something a bit more sporty, my wife wanted the high gas mileage, so we compromised on this car. Besides, I'm not quite old enough for a mid-life crisis car. Being the first hybrid I've owned, the CR-Z has greatly exceeded my expectations. I drive about 140 miles every other weekend, and I've rarely got under 40 mpg on this drive. I was worried the hybrid wouldn't have enough oomph to get decent acceleration, but with its sport mode, that's not a problem.
Story
I don't see many of them around. Most other CR-Z drivers I've seen wave as I go by. A co-worker owns one that is the exact same color, trim, and year. I sometimes try to go up to his car on accident in the parking lot.
Pros
The sport mode provided that extra power when needed, and the econ mode was great for cruising on the interstate and maximizing gas mileage. Built-in navigation and upgraded stereo system. Dash looks very high tech. Reliable - Driven 40,000 miles with no major problems.
Cons
Navigation unit is a bit low tech for 2012. It has Bluetooth hands-free for phone calls and voice control, but I can't play music over Bluetooth. No armrest. I thought I could live without it, but it gets rough on longer drives.
