2012 Honda CR-Z Owner Ratings & Reviews

2012 Honda CR-Z - Great ride with fuel economy
I love this car! I bought it because I wanted a fuel efficient car that was also fun to drive. This car is definitely fun to drive and I love getting into it each morning. I've owned my CR-z for about 18 months now. This car is really comfortable. I love that the seats hug you. I also like all the bells and whistles like blue tooth phone connection, radio adjustment from the steering wheel, and a USB port to hook up my iPod. I had to rent a Chevy Malibu and every time I got in the car I missed my CR-z. I hated the way the Malibu handled and I didn't like its responsiveness. I love this car and would definitely recommend it.
Story
Went out on multiple family trips on this car. Have got to yosemite national park for camping on it, was a fun experience to say the least. Carried all the eateries and 4 of my other friends seated along side me on the car.
Pros
I really like the manual transmission as well as the different driving modes. This is the only hybrid I know of with a manual transmission. I usually drive in the eco mode unless I'm having a really bad or a really good day-- then I switch it up to sport which is super fun. I was worried about the size of the car at first, but actually the back of the car is really big. I can fit my bike in my car if I take off the front wheel of my bike.
Cons
The hatchback is really tough to see out of. The frame is really bulky making backing up challenging. The fuel efficiency isn't what I hoped. I thought I'd be able to get around 40+ mpg, but it's ended up being 39 in the summer and 36 in the fall. I keep the car in eco mode the vast majority of the time as well as I drive really conservatively to save gas. I can get around 43 mpg when I'm driving on the highway only, but in the city its closer to 34 or 36. I accidentally left my headlights on for about 30 minutes and my battery went dead.
2012 Honda CR-Z - Great car for single user
I purchased my 2012 Honda CR-Z 3 years ago, and have been very happy with my experiences with it. It has been extremely reliable and has driven over 100,000 miles without needing any service outside of routine maintenance. I find it easy to reach between 40 and 45 mpg on the highway, which is great for the mileage I have to put on it for work. It is small, but comfortable for 1 or 2 people to ride in. The car feels sporty, and is very fun to drive with the 6 speed manual transmission. I sit in this car for 8-10 hours a day, and have found the seats to be comfortable, with a good driving position. Some of the plastic interior pieces feel a little cheap, and get damaged easily, but the overall quality of the car is high. Since having a child, I have found the lack of rear seats to be inc... Story
I have a great memory of driving up the coast of Maine with my wife, before we had our first child. Speeding along the windy mountainous coastal roads, having the windows open, and just really enjoying the trip. The car's maneuvering and sportiness really added to the experience.
Pros
The sporty feel, and 6 speed transmission.
It is reliable, and has not had any problems in over 100,000 miles.
It is very comfortable to sit in for prolonged periods of time.
It gets great fuel economy on the highway.
Cons
The vehicle only has 2 seats, causing issues if you ever add a little one to your family.
The hybrid engine and battery are heavy, making the car less efficient than it could be.
If you really need to push the vehicle, it doesn't have quite as much power as you'd like it to.
Some of the plastic interior pieces break easily.
