We absolutely love our Honda Pilot. We purchased it because we were adding another kid to our family and couldn't be happier. The three car seats fit perfectly across the middle seat for when we are going on trips and need to store our luggage in the back. We've never had a problem with it that we've needed repairs though we keep up basic maintenance such as tire rotations and oil changes. It drives great in the snow but does well in the high heat of the summer as well.
Story
We packed up our car, our three children and headed out on a road trip. 5 National parks or monuments, 3 special exhibits or museums and 4 states in 5 days. We had a blast, took a ton of pictures and earned many junior ranger badges. Our car was the perfect place to crawl back into after a long hike and head on to the next place. The kids could sleep comfortably in the back and have plenty of ... (more)
Pros
The storage in the vehicle is amazing--the console for the extras in the front seat, side pockets on each of the doors and plenty of drink holders throughout the car. We love that we can fold down the back seats and still fit our three car seats across the middle and have room for all the luggage when we go on road trips. We love that we can fit eight passengers comfortably so we can haul all our kids' friends around town. The option to record a cd into the database in the car is wonderful! No more hauling cds around for us.
Cons
There is not a whole lot of luggage space when all the seats are up. If there were just a few more inches of room, it would be better..

My Pilot is such a wonderful vehicle! It's no 4 wheeling vehicle, by any means, but it will get you unstuck in almost any situation. There's enough room for 8 and it rides great. I would not recommend getting it in black; I don't know if it's the quality of Honda's paint or us, but it seems to chip easily. It is a solid SUV; shutting the door is a solid sound and it is very safe. Honda's vehicles are made to last, so hopefully, with proper care, we can be an owner to make it to 300,000+ on the mileage. Speaking of mileage, we average about 23 mpg, with city/highway driving.
Story
Trying to test out the pilot in the snow and trying to make the car slide. My husband was driving and I was terrified in the passenger seat. Lo and behold, the car wouldn't slide (he was in control). I was happy and my husband was disappointed (in a good way) that the VTM worked perfectly, so he couldn't scare me while trying to do doughnuts.
Pros
Build quality; comfort in all 3 rows, tri-zone heating and air conditioning; can fit 3 car seats across the middle seat; storage/cubbyholes throughout; VTM all wheel drive; resale value; integrated backup camera in rearview mirror instead of where the radio is, like most cars; information display to keep you from guessing what's going on with your vehicle; it's a Honda; will likely be a solid running vehicle when our daughter is 16 (9 years from now)
Cons
A little bit more power would always be nice; front cup holders can be more durable (ours are damaged from holding warm coffee); better mileage, though it's not terrible; bigger trunk when all seats are up; better headlights-LED; 4WD option (like a 4runner)

This is the perfect car for a busy family. It seats eight people, so it's great for those carpools! We had a Ford Explorer previously and love this upgrade. It seems just slightly larger from the outside, but the internal space is dramatically better. We travel up to our mountain cabin most weekends and this has a lot of room for our cooler, clothing, and supples. The seats fold in a 60/40 split, so if we're taking an extra person or have extra supplies we can adapt it. The third back-row seat folds down smoothly without much effort. Although it's a little tight for full grown adults, it works for short trips or kids. This car does great in the snow. We also pull a very heavy boat up some pretty steep hills. I don't think I'd want to pull that weight every day, but it doesn't protest w... (more)
Story
We left the back hatch open after unloading at the cabin in the mountains. (my bad!) The console was full of peanut butter granola bars. That was too tempting for a bear. He tore up the console and took a bite out of the back seat. Amazingly the center console popped right back together, but I'm afraid the bite in the seat will be a permanent souvenir of his visit.
Pros
Seats eight with good storage Has been very reliable
Cons
Road noise is very noticeable
