We absolutely love our Honda Pilot. We purchased it because we were adding another kid to our family and couldn't be happier. The three car seats fit perfectly across the middle seat for when we are going on trips and need to store our luggage in the back. We've never had a problem with it that we've needed repairs though we keep up basic maintenance such as tire rotations and oil changes. It drives great in the snow but does well in the high heat of the summer as well.
Story
We packed up our car, our three children and headed out on a road trip. 5 National parks or monuments, 3 special exhibits or museums and 4 states in 5 days. We had a blast, took a ton of pictures and earned many junior ranger badges. Our car was the perfect place to crawl back into after a long hike and head on to the next place. The kids could sleep comfortably in the back and have plenty of ... (more)
Pros
The storage in the vehicle is amazing--the console for the extras in the front seat, side pockets on each of the doors and plenty of drink holders throughout the car. We love that we can fold down the back seats and still fit our three car seats across the middle and have room for all the luggage when we go on road trips. We love that we can fit eight passengers comfortably so we can haul all our kids' friends around town. The option to record a cd into the database in the car is wonderful! No more hauling cds around for us.
Cons
There is not a whole lot of luggage space when all the seats are up. If there were just a few more inches of room, it would be better..

My Pilot is such a wonderful vehicle! It's no 4 wheeling vehicle, by any means, but it will get you unstuck in almost any situation. There's enough room for 8 and it rides great. I would not recommend getting it in black; I don't know if it's the quality of Honda's paint or us, but it seems to chip easily. It is a solid SUV; shutting the door is a solid sound and it is very safe. Honda's vehicles are made to last, so hopefully, with proper care, we can be an owner to make it to 300,000+ on the mileage. Speaking of mileage, we average about 23 mpg, with city/highway driving.
Story
Trying to test out the pilot in the snow and trying to make the car slide. My husband was driving and I was terrified in the passenger seat. Lo and behold, the car wouldn't slide (he was in control). I was happy and my husband was disappointed (in a good way) that the VTM worked perfectly, so he couldn't scare me while trying to do doughnuts.
Pros
Build quality; comfort in all 3 rows, tri-zone heating and air conditioning; can fit 3 car seats across the middle seat; storage/cubbyholes throughout; VTM all wheel drive; resale value; integrated backup camera in rearview mirror instead of where the radio is, like most cars; information display to keep you from guessing what's going on with your vehicle; it's a Honda; will likely be a solid running vehicle when our daughter is 16 (9 years from now)
Cons
A little bit more power would always be nice; front cup holders can be more durable (ours are damaged from holding warm coffee); better mileage, though it's not terrible; bigger trunk when all seats are up; better headlights-LED; 4WD option (like a 4runner)

The first thing that brought my attention to the Honda Pilot was the outside appearance. I was a little apprehensive going from a 5 seater Chevy to a "mom" car and worried I would get stuck with a minivan or something of the sort but this was a pleasant surprise. It's is roomy but doesn't feel huge. I can easily fit my 4 kids in the back with an extra seat between them to minimize the "she's touching me" that will inevitably happen. Overall I have been very happy with my purchase and being able to fit my family of 6 plus our black lab in the back has been a relief.
Story
Surprised my kids with it when I picked them up from school. They were looking for our old car and completely ignored me. Once they figured out it was (5 min later) they ran over and started showing it off to all their friends and I was the best mom in the world cause it was so cool.
Pros
I love the fact that it has the sliding seat in the middle instead of captain seats. This was we can fit an additional person. The sliding seat to get into the back is also so easy to move my 5 year old can handle it. The gas mileage is fantastic! It handles corners a lot better than I was expecting. The Honda pilot also has a climate control just for the back two rows of the car and myself and my children enjoy that. I love how spacious the car is and feels but the fact that it also fits in my shortened garage was one thing I looked at when purchasing a new car. It's not super long but st... (more)
Cons
When I bought the car I put brand new tires on it but it still seems to slide in what water we've had on the ground. I'm a little worried about how it's going to handle in the snow during the winter. The stereo is a little annoying when trying to set your channels and my kids say they have a hard time hearing it unless I'm blaring it up front. Getting in the 3rd row as an adult is a hard. It's a pretty tight squeeze to get the 3rd row folded down as well if you need to haul anything. The "trunk" is very small and can't even fit a stroller or a lot of groceries.
