We got the Honda Pilot back in 2005. It is now 2017 and the vehicle has over 200,000 miles on it and still runs like it's brand new. It's taken us on countless road trips and we have never had any engine trouble or problems with fluids. The biggest thing we have had to do thus far was replace the tires, but tires get worn out so that's a normal thing that needs replacing. The vehicle was especially awesome for when our children were smaller and had many friends that we could easily pile into the back. The only complaint I have is that now it's nearly impossible to sit adults comfortably in the third row of the vehicle. We found that only one adult can sit comfortably in the third row, and only if they put their legs to the side on the seat. We are also looking to downsize since we do n... (more)
Story
We live near a beach and there's a long dirt road with lots of bumps and turns to get to it. I wasn't sure that the vehicle would make it through but sure enough with the all wheel drive, it wasn't a problem. We were able to bring all of our coolers, food, towels, chairs, and people down to the beach comfortably.
Pros
The front seats and the second row of seats are very spacious and comfortable. Also, having the DVD player was a huge bonus when our children were small and we had many miles to drive. The leather seats are also easy to clean and have lasted quite awhile. The seats in the back fold down nicely and easily so that it's easy to make room if need be. The car has held up nicely through all the driving and commuting we have put it through. 200,000 plus miles and it still runs like it's brand new, incredible really.
Cons
Like previously mentioned, it is nearly impossible to fit a full sized adult in the third back row. Also the headlight covers need to be cleaned every now and again, it really makes a difference once they are clean. The leather seats do get worn and we have had to duct tape a few parts where the leather has ripped.

2005 Honda Pilot - Great buy. Great SUV.

I like everything about my Honda Pilot. It has plenty of room for five adults and luggage. It does very well on short trips or cross country and mpg is pretty good, about 360 miles per tank fill. It is now twelve years old, and I've only had to replace the tires (once), battery (once), and brakes (three times). Driving is extremely comfortable and ergonomic. The heated seats are great as well as the ability to put them in nearly any position that you can configure. Even a nearly flat lay down in the event of finding yourself in need of a nap. There is plenty of front seat storage, and you can keep your sunglasses in a drop down tray that is easy to work when driving. The heated outside mirrors are nice when there is frost or icing. The second-row seat has a pull down for passe... (more)
Story
I was sodding my lawn myself and had to get the sod from the farm. I used my Honda. It took a full load, and although it protested a bit on turns, it still ran fine with no strain on the motor. The look on my neighbor's face when I pulled into my drive was classic, as he had a F-150, and he said he would not have dared to haul all that weight.
Pros
Safety. Comfort. Options available. Mileage on highway. Storage space. Takes a lot more abuse than some trucks on the market.
Cons
Third seat is tight for adults.
