2011 Honda Insight - My insight into a great car

I drive a 2011 Honda Insight. I have enjoyed this vehicle from the moment I drove it off the lot. It gets great gas mileage (over 45 mpg!), and handles great. I have recently hit the 100k mark in miles, and still have no problems with the vehicle. I have transitioned from bachelor, to husband, to father, during my 4 years with this vehicle, and it has handled all those extra needs remarkably well. No matter what stage in life you are in, I would recommend this car.
Story
The first weekend I owned the car my friends and I drove it to a casino and back on one tank of gas. The car ran out of fuel right as we got home. The casino was an easy 4 hours away. There and back on one tank of gas.
Pros
One thing you might not know from just looking at it, but it has great cargo storage. On a trip to IKEA I fit 2 bookshelves, a kitchen table, 5 chairs, and an entertainment center (all to be assembled later) into this vehicle. The seats even fold down to provide extra room for storage. It's a great vehicle for commuting long distances. I love that I can plug my phone in to the car (through the usb port) and play music, audiobooks, and podcasts. Hands down, the cargo space is my favorite feature.
Cons
As a taller person, I sometimes have trouble feeling as comfortable as I would like in this car. In the winter, it often needs air refilled in the tires. My least favorite feature is if I have two taller people sitting in the back, they often complain about head space. I also think it gets really hot in the very back cargo area. My dog lays back there on longer trips and she always seems to get too hot.

Great mileage! The look is sleek and ascetically pleasing. This car can very comfortable fit 5 people. Trunk space could have been bigger though. As a hybrid, it was very quiet, even on the highway. It did not have any issues with blind spots at all. The battery did have to be replaced quite frequently, but many of the times it was because of personal misuse of battery power (leaving the headlights or cabin lights on overnight, oops!) The costs for maintenance were very fair. When driving the vehicle it performed well and I felt very safe and in control. Because of the quieter engine, it wasn't quite as fun to drive with as a car with a loud engine however. The acceleration, braking, and handling are very sensitive when compared to my previous car, and it took a little bit of getting u... (more)
Story
One time I took this vehicle on a camping trip, and there was an unexpected heavy downpour that caused rain to leak through my tent and flood my sleeping area. I decided to move to the car that night, and it was a huge relief to sleep in a comfortable vehicle (also I had heated seats, which are extremely relaxing) where I had no fear of getting soaked overnight.
Pros
The mileage first and foremost is amazing no matter how you slice it. I would rarely have to put gas into this car compared to my previous vehicle(Acura Integra). The sensitivity of the acceleration, brakes, and handling are a huge plus. The car felt very natural to drive after a couple drives, and it was a very smooth ride.
Cons
The quiet engine was a con, because personally I like the roar of the engine when I accelerate on to the highway. Also, it made it so pedestrians often would not hear me approaching. There could have been more trunk space, but it may have made the cabin less comfortable.

This car is perfect for me. It is a hybrid and gets 50 mpg average. It is a hatchback, and with the rear seats down, I can get 2 adult road bicycles in the back. (With the wheels on!) After 6 years, I have had no problems with it at all. The interior is typical Honda, not flashy, but practical. It handles fine, although the pickup is a little slow.
Story
I can carry 2 bikes plus another person to drive to the start of an out-of-town bike ride. I still get great mileage, and the bikes are safely locked inside at stops.
Pros
The mileage is great. I average 50 mpg in town. I only get gas once a month. I love driving past the gas stations. The hatchback allows me to put a lot of stuff in the car. Two bicycles fit just fine. Eight-foot long 2x4s will fit diagonally. I have filled it with building materials and it still handles fine. I have had no problems with it. Just routine maintenance and oil changes. It is as reliable as you would expect a Honda to be.
Cons
The style is Honda-boring. The color I have is silver- I think that it blends with the road. I wish that I could have gotten a different color. The car is small and low to the ground, so I worry about other car's seeing me. In economy mode, the acceleration is a bit slow. I don't worry about merging onto a highway, but I am certainly not the fastest car in the merge lane.
