One catastrophic error ruined the experience
I honestly do love this car. It's a car with a great build, and it gets great mileage. It's not fancy and doesn't have a bunch of bells and whistles, but it performs well and keeps the costs low. The one problem is that in the first few years I had issues with the oil, and had to continually change my oil as the dealership told me I had ruined it in some way. Turns out that lots of other Honda Insight owners from that year had similar problems and eventually a recall was issued in which they had to cut open my engine. Several times the car switched into low gear on the highway, and I was fearful for my life before the recall.

Maximally Fuel Efficient
I purchased this vehicle about two years ago for my wife who would be commuting from her job. Overall the gas mileage has been outstanding. The vehicle was rated to achieve 42 to 44 mph. On the average, she has been achieving 48 to 49 mph. The savings on gasoline has been a huge savings for us. Acceleration has been adequate. This is not a car used for to zip in and out of traffic nor for sudden acceleration from a stop position. Maintenance has been low to non-existent. My only complaint has been the cost for the regular maintenance scheduled by the manufacturer. The vehicle can adequately sit four adults but no more than two people in the back seat. It is a hatch back and it does have adequate space for luggage. The rear seat is a slit back so you can fold a section of the back seat down for more storage. My only complaint was this was a base model, so it does not have any cruise control, and the CD player which came with the vehicle tends to stick during the warm summer months.
