I really love the Honda Insight. I have had the car for 5 years now. It is a nice small car, but with enough trunk space in the hatchback. I am sad they don't sell the car anymore. It runs smoothly and hasn't had any issues. I have only brought it in for service and one recall. I haven't had issues with the car in any way. Runs perfectly. I love my car, but I wish it had more bells and whistles. I was excited at the time because it has a USB charger, but that is it. I wish it had a backup camera or Bluetooth. If they still sold the Insight, I would easily upgrade the car to another Insight with more features.
Story
While driving through San Francisco, the car was struggling with the hills. I was driving up the hill to go down the curvy, famous Lombard street, but as I tried to go up the hill, I had to stop for traffic. Anytime I tried to go forward my car would actually go backwards for a bit before the engine would kick it. Fun and scary all at once!
Pros
It is a hybrid so it gets great gas mileage. It costs so little to fill up the car and lasts for a long time. I don't have a crazy commute for work so I only have to fill the tank every 2-3 weeks. It is small, but still has enough space. It seats five, but really only four people comfortably.
Cons
The air conditioning doesn't run cool or smoothly when you are in traffic. It is hard to keep the car cool enough unless the car is in constant motion. It is the biggest negative for my car. I was also scared driving it for a few months with the recall on the airbags. Now that they are fixed, I do feel better. The tires chosen by Honda go quickly and need to be replaced sooner than usual, so that is a struggle.

2011 Honda Insight - My insight into a great car

I drive a 2011 Honda Insight. I have enjoyed this vehicle from the moment I drove it off the lot. It gets great gas mileage (over 45 mpg!), and handles great. I have recently hit the 100k mark in miles, and still have no problems with the vehicle. I have transitioned from bachelor, to husband, to father, during my 4 years with this vehicle, and it has handled all those extra needs remarkably well. No matter what stage in life you are in, I would recommend this car.
Story
The first weekend I owned the car my friends and I drove it to a casino and back on one tank of gas. The car ran out of fuel right as we got home. The casino was an easy 4 hours away. There and back on one tank of gas.
Pros
One thing you might not know from just looking at it, but it has great cargo storage. On a trip to IKEA I fit 2 bookshelves, a kitchen table, 5 chairs, and an entertainment center (all to be assembled later) into this vehicle. The seats even fold down to provide extra room for storage. It's a great vehicle for commuting long distances. I love that I can plug my phone in to the car (through the usb port) and play music, audiobooks, and podcasts. Hands down, the cargo space is my favorite feature.
Cons
As a taller person, I sometimes have trouble feeling as comfortable as I would like in this car. In the winter, it often needs air refilled in the tires. My least favorite feature is if I have two taller people sitting in the back, they often complain about head space. I also think it gets really hot in the very back cargo area. My dog lays back there on longer trips and she always seems to get too hot.
