2013 Kia Forte - Dependable and Economical
This car looks very understated, in a good way. If you want something that's loud and attention-getting, this isn't the car for you. The interior and trunk is extremely roomy even though this car doesn't look huge from the outside. The seats are comfortable, but the interior is rather noisy, especially at higher speeds. The radio has an automatic volume boost to compensate for this, which seems like a bandage fix. It gets around 33 mpg on average, but it is extremely dependable. It struggles to go up steep hills, but it steers and brakes very securely. The stock tires seem to be extremely cheap, though. I had heard mixed information about Kia's in the past, so I was wary about the brand. However, the car has been very reliable and I wouldn't hesitate to get another one in the future or... (more)

However, the car has been very reliable and I wouldn't hesitate to get another one in the future or recommend it to my friends. I think the only other thing is that the resale value for this make/model isn't as high as others like Toyota. If that's an important factor, then it might be a better idea to look at other cars with better resale value.
I made a very long road trip in this car recently with one other person. It was very fun to see the sights while driving and listening to music. We stopped a few times for food and ate on the way. There were some parts of the trip where it was dark as hell. There were no lights for miles and miles, so the only lights we had were the car's. I wondered what would happen if we got stuck in the middle of nowhere where it was pitch dark. Luckily that never happened, but it was pretty freaky nonetheless. It was almost like one of those horror movies. If you want to do something adventurous and fun, I would recommend taking this car on a road trip out in the boonies so you can freak yourself out. Make sure there's someone to keep you company and take turns driving.
The Smartphone Bluetooth connectivity allows me to push a button on the steering wheel to make calls. I can talk using the car's built in mike and hear the caller on my stereo system. I can also listen to my phone's music library using the same Bluetooth connection. The turn-by-turn navigation in the phone is another thing that can be heard and controlled through the car. The car has very good gas mileage, especially in my case because I drive it on the freeway often. The interior and trunk is very roomy. There's also a built-in alarm and door unlock key fob so I can feel a bit more secure and also unlock the door without having to fumble with the keys.
The car's tiny engine struggles to accelerate and go up steep hills. The interior is noisy, especially at higher speeds. The ride feels bumpy and rough all the time. Every bump in the road or every time the street is a bit rough, you can feel it and it makes things feel junky. The stock tires seem cheap and flimsy, and this might contribute to the rough, bumpy ride. If the air conditioner is off, you can feel air blowing through the vents, especially at higher speeds. If it's cold outside, then this means that cold air will blow through the vents. I'm sometimes forced to turn on the heater... (more)

While the stereo system sounds fairly good, the bass is overdone and needs to be turned down from the defaults. The mid-range and high sounds are a bit muddy. The headrests are at an odd angle, so if you like to rely on back/neck support, your head will be tilted forward and downward uncomfortably. Lack of cruise control or other automated systems means that you must do everything manually.
2013 Kia Forte - Extremely Satisfied Car Owner
This car is one of my personal favorites that my family has owned. It is definitely the most modern car we've owned, and comes with the important tech features that we enjoy (mainly iPod and Bluetooth support). While it's modern, it still has more of the traditional look that I like in a car, in that it does not have bulbous headlights or blinding taillights, and it is not shaped like a cube. It has a very sophisticated look to it without being overly flashy like a sports car, which I love. I wish the model came with a better variety of colors, but was nevertheless able to get the color I wanted. It's quite comfortable, both on short excursions and longer road trips. While it is not the most high-powered car, it has the acceleration when it counts to stay safe. Visibility is also good.... (more)

Gas mileage is fair and it has needed very little maintenance since its purchase date. The trunk is exceptionally wide and deep, something I definitely need in a car for travel luggage and also tons of groceries. Overall, this car really suits my needs and I would definitely recommend.
- Sophisticated look
- Comfortable cabin
- Spacious trunk
- Great performance
- High reliability

- The engine sounds very different from previous cars I've owned. It's a little difficult to get used to. Not really loud, but just...different.
- The stereo system has a little too much bass at times, but it's otherwise great.
