I drive a 1994 Subaru Impreza Wagon. I average around 26 combines mpg. My vehicle has power windows and locks but does have manual windows. At almost 20 years old I still have functioning air conditioning as well! The car handles extremely well on the freeway as well as winding mountain roads. It could use a bit more power on steep grades but I never felt the car "chugging" like some other 4 cylinder cars on the freeway.
Pros
I really enjoy the AWD aspect of the Subaru. It allows for not only fun driving off road while heading to my next camping adventure but also provides me with additional safety and traction on wet, winter roads. The Subaru Impreza also has a fair amount of storage room in it for a sub-compact car allowing you to fit in those smaller parking spots while hauling lots of supplies in the car.
Cons
The only downside to the Subaru for me would be maintenance and repair costs which are definitely more costly that a Honda or Toyota since all Subaru's have Boxer engines.

I strongly like my Subaru Imprezza 2.5i premium, because I feel like for the money it was probably the best bang for the buck. For me, the option of AWD and a wagon was the best combo I could find in order to fill all my needs. The engine itself may not be the strongest available, however the ability to get 26mpg on average far out weighs the stronger motor option in the WRX. As far as the trim goes, I would say its average. I wish they offered a better leather option. I currently have a cloth option, and I feel it has not been able to hold up as well.
Story
Driving my car in the snow has been a blast. The amount of traction I had in terrible snowy conditions was fantastic and something to be proud of.
Pros
The positive aspects of the car was the value and the AWD as a standard option. The engine is also a strong aspect of the car, even though it's not the WRX version because the fuel mileage is better than the average. I think the styling of the car is actually quite nice as well.
Cons
I would say the biggest con of the vehicle would be the noise while driving. I would also state the trim as being pretty bare, and the options I purchased were pretty standard, as well. Looking back on it, I think I would like the car to be loaded slightly more. Another con is the cost of maintenance if you were to try and maintain as required.

They were honest, helpful and got us the price we were looking for by cutting almost $400 off the price tag.
