A 1997 Nissan Pathfinder is an old girl, but she get's the job done. In 2015 she wouldn't be worth much, but about 1,200 dollars when appraised. I love how the room in the back of the car is spacious, and there is plenty of trunk space. The thing I look for in any car is the reliability, and for being an 18 year old vehicle, I would recommend this type of vehicle to anyone who is just starting out, or their budget won't stretch that far. This car is also great for family outings or outings with friends as there is plenty of room in the back. The car can fit three people comfortably in the back, or even squeeze 4 or 5 people depending on size. Not only is this car reliable, and functional, but it is also gas friendly. You want more bang for your buck? A Nissan Pathfinder's full tank i... (more)
Story
My first storm I went through with this car; It was pouring like cats and dogs. I could not see a thing, and I was going back to Greenville, an hour drive, from Havelock. I could not see a thing, and the roads were flooding pretty bad. All I could do was drive on, and hope to God, I didn't start hydro planning into something. I pulled over a few times, to wait out the storm, but it didn't come... (more)
Pros
Positive things I would say about the vehicle : Automatic Transmission Great trunk space Great back seat space Gas friendly Cheap to purchase Very reliable. Can Handle storms, flooding, snow, major traveling, etc.. Great functions like AC/Heat/Radio Can lock car with a keypad or electronically from the inside Windows are electronic
Cons
Maintenance is sometimes a pain. No GPS installed (need a separate GPS if the destination is not known).

My vehicle is a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder, that I purchased in 2013 for $800. I drive it very little; it had roughly 178,000 miles when I bought it, and now has roughly 184,000 miles. I did have to get some work done on it (including replacing the alternator), and it still needs more work done, but overall it works pretty well. It also had a grille guard, but I removed it because I didn't like it.
Story
One time, not long after I got the vehicle, I drove it to the beach (roughly 3.5 hours each way). It was fun, and I didn't have any trouble along the way. In fact, I got better gas mileage on that trip than at any other time before or since.
Pros
The electronics, for the most part, work fine, including the radio (which is after-market) and the air conditioner. It can seat up to 5 people (4 comfortably), and has a rather large cargo area. The back seat can be folded over to give more cargo space if necessary. While it won't be winning any races, it is capable of handling itself in a wide variety if situations, including interstate highways, city streets, rural back-roads, and off-road.
Cons
The biggest negative, by far, is the gas mileage. I'm lucky to get 12 miles per gallon, and this is even with me being cautious (a/c off, windows up, turning engine off at stoplights). There are several places where the paint is chipped, as well as some other cosmetic issues. The windows are sluggish going up and down, and the tires need to be replaced.

This particular dealership does a lot for their community. They have a great selection of used and new cars. They are friendly and not pushy when we go car buying or browsing. They are in a small town so it is just a nice feeling to buy locally and give back to our community in that way. They were fair and honest and really went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.

There was no beating around the bush. They did not try to sell me something I didn't want. I was asked what I was looking for, and was told, "well then, let's look at just that." There were three cars that met my requirements. My salesman wasn't pushy or demeaning. It was fast, and it was easy. I got exactly what I was looking for with no hassle whatsoever.
