2012 Nissan Rogue - I like my Rogue.

My 2012 Nissan Rogue SUV is great on the highways for road trips. It has acceleration when I need to have it and can corner pretty good. There was an issue with some rattling on the underside that was caused by a heat shield coming loose at the pressure points. The warranty covered that work and now there is no more vibration noise coming from the car. I do have an issue with merging to the right with this car because there is an inherent blind side between the front and rear passenger doors. It is very hard to sense if a car is driving along side of me because I cannot see it through my mirrors. More than once I thought it was safe to merge and there was a car there that I didn't notice. Need to be careful about that when merging.
Story
When we first brought the car back from the dealer our kids wanted to know whose car that was. We told them that was our new car and it offered plenty of room for the kids to sit back and relax on long rides.
Pros
I can always depend on my Rogue to deliver the power and the speed when I need to have it on a road trip. The Rogue is a sturdy car and holds well in windy situations on the freeway. The rear windshield wiper comes in handy at times too when it is raining heavy.
Cons
I try to do as much cosmetic maintenance issues as I can. If there isn't a deal in the oil and filter change I will do that myself. Not a problem but when I go to change the cabin air filter. Now that is a problem. Getting to that filter takes a contortionist to take out. It is located to the right of the gas pedal and there just isn't enough room to maneuver for a big person like me. I usually get on of the kids to get in there with their flexible body and small hands to take out the old filter and put in the new one.

2012 Nissan Rogue - It's decent for a first car

Nissan Rogue is my first car, so as a first car, it is great. At one point, I actually liked it better than my mom's Lexus RX. But because it is a 2012 car and now, cars being released have so much higher technology in the cars, it seems really outdated. Other than that, I am hearing more and more news on Japanese cars, which is the main reason why I wouldn't not buy this car again or any Japanese cars. I usually pay around 80 for gas a month, which is not bad. But at the same time, I live in the city of my school, so I don't commute or anything like that. If I were to drive down to SoCal, I would put in gas two times, which is around 80 dollars. And I feel like there are cars with a higher mpg than this car does.
Story
I shopped a lot after getting my car so I became more of a fashionista thanks to my car.
Pros
Some may not like the fact that the breaks break very quickly, but I like that feature. It may seem not very smooth, but I have gotten used to that feature. It is a decent car for a student's first car. It has the basics of what you must need but not what you would want.
Cons
Just the fact that if I get into an accident, this car will not be able to protect me is the biggest con and fear that I have while driving this car. I drive from NorCal to SoCal constantly because of school and home. And driving long distances on a freeway where cars speed easily over 100+ mph, I would like to feel safe in my vehicle. The technology inside the car is very outdated.

the employees are helpful and knowledgeable but not pushy like most places tend to be. they also had a nice selection of cars and took their time showing me and explaining each one i was interested in. they didn't seem to get irritated that i took kind of while, and when it came down to the paper work part, they were very straight forward with what it all meant instead of rushing me through it all.
