I've had my Ford Explorer for a while now and I have to say that it is just a great car. It handles well, I like the size on the overall car as well as all the room I have for storing things. My friends and I would oftentimes go somewhere nice, like the mountains or the beach, and have a picnic while sitting in the back of the car. It's also been an incredibly reliable car. I've had Dora for nearly 10 years now and have only had a few cases where I need to get things patched up in her. I've also been a person to like SUVs, but I really do like how large the Ford Explorer is and the feeling you get when driving a car of this size. The only negatives I can think of at the moment are the blind spots on the sides of the car and how hot that leather interior gets (which of course is no comm... (more)
Story
My favorite memory was when I loaded up the car with 4 of my friends and we drove the car up Glendora Mountain Road to look at the view of the city. Then we all piled in the back and ate sandwiches and soda while enjoying the view and the sunshine.
Pros
I really enjoy the size, reliability, and how safe the Ford Explorer feels when driving. She's sturdy!
Cons
I do not like the blind spots on the sides of the car.

With regular maintenance this car keeps on going. This is my second Ford Explorer. The last one went 250,000 miles before the engine quit. I like the suspension because it has a very comfortable ride on the highway and performs well on dirt roads. It gets OK mileage for an SUV (18-19mpg) of its age. The drivetrain is 2WD. Unfortunately, it does not have a limited slip differential so in snowy/icy or off road situations the car is really only 1WD.
Story
I just put new tires on the car last week one day before heading out to the desert for a rock climbing trip. Knowing that I would have to drive out on a VERY bumpy dirt road in the dark, I was apprehensive about how the car would handle it, so I took it very slow. I was happy and relieved to get to camp because we would park there all weekend and would only have to deal with the road again on ... (more)
Pros
The ride comfort is one of the top things that appeal to me about this car. Also, the interior space. I can fold down the rear seats and sleep in the back and still have room for gear. I have added an aftermarket tow hitch and have enjoyed pulling a tent trailer easily without affecting the mpg.
Cons
I am not happy with the lack of a limited slip differential. This car is basically 1WD when roads get slick. Compared to more modern cars the mileage is not great (18-19mg). It does not come with front wheel camber adjustment.

I was able to negotiate the price for $200 off. I was able to test drive the car. Once I placed a $500 deposit I was able to hold the car so no one else would purchase it. The employees were helpful and knowledgeable. The process to buy the car was simple. I communicated with the dealer instead of the owner which made the process less difficult.

The customer service at Towne Ford is wonderful. It was time to trade in my mother's gas hogging SUV for a new hybrid. The 2014 Ford C-Max hybrid was the perfect replacement! They have always accommodated our needs during minor recalls. The service is fast and professional. They have earned our trust.
