The Ford Ranger is an excellent truck in the smaller truck category that competes with the Tacoma and Mazda B Series (although they are often the same exact build given a relationship Ford and Mazda had in the 90s that has now ended). The XLT version of the truck is a great option for extra comfort given the ability to adjust the seats and carry that extra bit of gear behind them. The truck itself has a great long-lasting engine, and the design has clean lines in the interior. It really is a basic truck designed for light work around an urban environment due to its ease of parking in the city. I'd recommend this truck to anyone who has such work or is looking for a weekend getaway vehicle as that is what I use it for primarily. I have upgraded the vehicle to have off-road tires and a t... Story
I went to the beach and slept in the truck bed while watching the sunset in Malibu.
Pros
Positive things about this vehicle are its interior design and good bed size. It is small enough to park in the city as I mentioned. My favorite feature is probably the bench seating in the front because I like the option of added passengers. Also, there are two extra seats in the small cab behind the front seats for those emergency situations. Other pros include a well-built engine and easy design. There are not many bells and whistles, and the buttons are all very simple and locking mechanisms as well, which I like. In a truck this is what I want: simplicity. It is a great beat-around ve... Cons
The negatives about this vehicle are its very small engine size, which doesn't allow for heavy lifting, but that is a non issue for me. Other negatives are that it is very slow. The acceleration is horrible, and on the highway, I find myself crawling at times because it does not get very high up there on the speed department. Other negatives are its tape player, which can be improved by getting an after-market stereo. It does not come with a trailer hitch, but I got one and would recommend that too. The truck is also kind of small, and you can feel it when you are inside, which isn't exact... (more)

The Ford Ranger is a great little truck! I have owned it for 15 years and it still runs perfect, have never had a major mechanical issue. Replaced only the fuel pump. I have the 4-speed manual with overdrive and I love it! I've hauled heavy loads, motorcycles, and all kinds of stuff. The cab/interior is comfortable and durable, and I love that everything is basic. No power windows or anything to break. It is great! The bed is big enough to haul furniture, motos, boxes or most any thing you want, and the 2.5L engine is good on gas. With the manual transmission you have plenty of torque for hills, passing whatever you want! Replaced the bumper myself after a minor rear-end collision. Parts seem readily available and cheap! I've even had three people offer to buy it from me, completely un... (more)
Story
Love to drive around los Angeles with my motorcycle strapped up in back. It's like I bought a vehicle just to carry another vehicle!
Pros
Love the 4-speed transmission, lots of torque. Good mileage. Comfy, cushiony seats! A/C is a powerhouse in the hot summers! Love the simplicity! A great basic truck. Anti-skid brakes! Ability to turn off passenger airbag.
Cons
Not a lot of headroom in the cab. Weird combo of drum brakes in back and discs in front. Stock sound system not that great. Could use more room in the foot pedal area.

When I went to Simi Valley Ford I did not feel any pressure to buy the car it was a fun experience rather than an obligation. The sales agent made me feel like we were playing in the cars rather than test driving them. The agent was kind and knowledgeable and he understood that I did not have a lot of money to spend so he made sure I got a good deal.

The customer service here is great. I never felt like I was being pressured at all by the salespeople, and they have competitive prices. I came in with my 1992 Civic and they offered me about $500 more than Carmax was. Trading it in for a Tbird was solid, and they even had free coffee on the way out.
