2001 Pontiac Sunfire - I loved it but it was not built to last.

I absolutely loved my car. It was the first care I ever owned and I was so excited to receive it. It was red and had a cute spoiler on the back. Aesthetically it was an awesome care. It definitely had a number of flaws but for getting around in college I thought it was amazing. The first year I had it performed pretty well. Sped up quick, had a nice rev to it and ran smooth. After a while though I started having problems with the battery and the transmission and the check engine light never went off.
Story
I used to drive my friends around to local food places and/or bowling and they would always have to squeeze into that back and it was a big production since it was a two door car so me and the front passenger had to get out every time I picked someone off or dropped someone off.
Pros
I loved the red color of the care. It was so bright and looked great. I like how it revved when I sped up, it was good at getting out of its own way. I liked the pointed hood, it made it easy to see and it was super easy to park. I liked the two door style, it looks sportier. I loved the spoiler on the back of it and I loved the red and black hubcaps I bough for it. I liked the small size of the car that made it easy to drive. Surprisingly the heating and cooling system worked really well and that was great living in the northeast. It had excellent gas mileage. I could drive for two weeks ... (more)
Cons
The radio didn’t work so I had to use a cassette adapter to use my iPhone to listen to music. It was annoying that it had roll down windows so whenever someone tried to talk to me from the passenger side door I had to lean over to roll the windows down. I used to get stuck a lot after a year of having it for various different problems and it was inconvenient not to have a reliable car. My brakes barely worked and in the rain I’d have to stop way before lights and stop signs in order to make sure I stopped. The car dented very easily and I had to plunge out the dents. The entire frame event... (more)

Overall, this car is a great beginner car. It continues to get me around town without any issues. While the aesthetics are not top notch, it is a stable car that will get you where you need to go. This car is great for someone who is just starting out because it is built well and will keep you safe and also does not have all of the extra gadgets that frequently break down and require extra maintenance. While this was not my first car, it has definitely lasted me quite a few years and has gotten me through quite a few snow storms without incident. It is a car that parents can feel safe putting their child in.
Story
Despite the looks of this vehicle, it handles remarkably well in the snow and ice which is something that I did not expect. Growing up in cold and snowy climates, I have done my fair share of snowy driving, and this car has definitely held up to the need. One particular time that always makes me chuckle was when my mom, who has a 2015 Ford Fusion, was trying to get out of our driveway and was ... (more)
Pros
The pros of this car definitely outnumber the cons. This car is built like a truck. It is very sturdy and does not break easily. I have also had to have minimal work done to it besides routine maintenance. It is a perfect starter car because while it has everything that you need, it does not have all of the extras that require all of the frequent maintenance.
Cons
I would say the number one most negative thing about this vehicle is the aesthetic portion. It is not a very attractive car. Mine is grey with black stripes around the bottom. It is not the most attractive but it works. It also doesn't have the most comfortable fabric seats, but they do what they are meant to do.
